Born and raised in Hanoi , a member of the "Gen Z" generation, Nguyen Duc Viet was nurtured by the love and care of his family. From a young age, Viet was a gentle, intelligent boy with high expectations for a bright future. However, like many of his peers, adolescence brought Viet countless passions and temptations. Amidst the modern pace of life, Viet became engrossed in online video games. Seeing her son neglecting his studies, especially late at night, his mother, Ms. Tuyen, was very worried.

The turning point that changed Viet was when he witnessed his mother's tears and choked words: "I'm not afraid of you failing, I'm only afraid that you won't want to strive for your own future anymore." Viet began to realize that if he didn't change, he would lose his family's love and trust, his youthful aspirations, and the opportunity to build a better future. And so, Viet decided to change himself. Nights spent playing video games were replaced with time for reading, exercising , and learning new skills. Initially, it wasn't easy, but with willpower, determination, and inherent intelligence, Viet gradually broke free from the invisible cycle that had held him back for so long. Seeing her son gradually change, Ms. Tuyen advised him to train in the military, and Viet agreed, volunteering to enlist.

In the early days of his assignment at Training Center 334, General Staff, General Department of Engineering (now the General Department of Logistics and Engineering), Viet and his comrades were taught even the smallest details, such as: arranging their living quarters neatly and tidily; using proper forms of address, greeting, and manners; and communicating and behaving appropriately to resolve work-related issues. With his utmost effort and dedication to learning and training, Viet was honored to be admitted to the Party in May 2024. Standing solemnly under the Party flag, Viet clearly felt that he had matured and gained a deeper awareness of his responsibilities to himself, his family, and his country.

Joy followed joy. In September 2024, Viet was honored to be selected by his unit to study at the College of Information Technology, Signal Corps. This was not only an opportunity for Viet to hone his knowledge and improve his professional skills, but also a crucial turning point in his military career. Viet understood that to live up to the trust of his commanders, comrades, and family, he had to work much harder than before. Every day, outside of class, Viet diligently studied materials, practiced diligently, and continuously honed his professional skills. The rigorous training sessions and late-night study sessions all became part of his journey in forging an iron will, with the goal of becoming a useful member of society.

The road ahead for Nguyen Duc Viet is still full of challenges, but Viet believes that with his mother as a source of emotional support, the encouragement of his teachers and teammates, and his own determination, he will overcome everything. And the title of "Outstanding Student" for the 2024-2025 school year is not only a meaningful gift Viet gives to his family but also a testament to his efforts.
