Attractive Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival 2024

In 2024, the total number of fighting buffaloes participating in the festival is 16 buffaloes. Of which, each ward in the area is allowed to register 2 buffaloes; 4 buffalo owners with buffaloes winning first, second and third prizes in 2023 can each register to participate in 1 buffalo. Regarding the prize structure this year, the first prize is 100 million VND, the second prize is 60 million VND, and the third prize is 30 million VND each.

Mr. Pham Hoang Tuan, Vice Chairman of Do Son District People's Committee, Head of the festival organizing committee, beat the drum to open the festival.

The festival took place with 15 extremely dramatic and exciting matches, attracting a large number of spectators and tourists to watch.

The Buffaloes have given the audience many exciting matches.

Previously, the ceremony of Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival including: Incense offering ceremony, flag raising ceremony; water procession; and God worship ceremony were solemnly organized by the festival organizing committee from district to ward, showing respect to ancestors, preserving the traditional cultural identity of the festival.

From early morning, tens of thousands of people and tourists were present at the fighting arena.

The Do Son buffalo fighting festival originated from the worship of the god Diem Tuoc Dai Vuong, the god of Do Son mountains and rivers. The festival was formed and developed over many centuries, passed down from generation to generation, closely linked to the length of history and the development of the land and people here.

That has affirmed the spiritual cultural value, the endogenous, lasting, and strong vitality of the Festival in the spiritual life of the people. The Festival is not only a precious cultural heritage but also a unique and attractive tourism product of the country in general and Do Son, Hai Phong in particular.
