Folk art and culture is not simply entertainment, but also a gentle form of education , fostering love for the homeland, a spirit of solidarity, and the preservation of fading traditional values. In recent times, many arts and culture clubs throughout the province have been actively and enthusiastically operating, creating vibrant colors for the folk art scene in Ca Mau.

Notably, the Senior Citizens' Club of the Provincial Cultural Center stands out. With 20 members (4 men and 16 women), the club has become a warm and friendly cultural hub for the elderly. Club members regularly perform at major events such as the Party Anniversary, the Lunar New Year, and national anniversaries, as well as engaging in exchanges with other organizations and associations. Each performance is meticulously staged, carefully selected to suit the event's theme, and imbued with rich cultural traditions and profound patriotic sentiments.

Beyond official performances, the members regularly practice, socialize, and encourage each other every week. This warm atmosphere and positive, enthusiastic training spirit have helped them maintain their health and optimism, allowing them to continue living happy and fulfilling lives after years of dedication and service.

Ms. Pham Thuy Hang, 70 years old (residing in Hamlet 4, Ward 5, Ca Mau City), a member of the club, said: “The club also participates in the traditional folk music performance at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area on weekends. There, we usually perform about three acts, including traditional folk songs and modern music, contributing to preserving and spreading the value of this unique traditional art form of our nation.”

Each citizen is both a creator and an audience member; each performance is the result of weeks of practice, a way to cast aside the worries of life. This is what creates the unique value of folk art—simple, intimate, and full of vitality.

“We are thrilled that even in retirement, we still have the opportunity to live happily, healthily, and with a relaxed spirit. If we hadn't joined the club, many of us would probably have fallen into a state of sadness and depression. But thanks to having a place to socialize, practice, and perform, life has become much more meaningful,” shared Ms. Pham Thuy Hang.

During the performances at the Ca Mau Provincial Cultural Center, in addition to the performances by professional artists, there are always interactive performances from amateur art clubs. Recent mass cultural and artistic activities have attracted many young people, especially children, providing a valuable platform for them to showcase their talents and passions.

The late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once affirmed: "Culture is the identity of the nation; as long as culture exists, the nation exists; when culture is lost, the nation is lost." In the fast-paced flow of the times, the mass art movement is not simply a cultural activity, but a vital source that nourishes the national soul. Developing mass art today is a way to continue this cultural undercurrent, so that the voices of the people continue to resonate on the journey of building a prosperous and strong nation with a rich national identity.
