Revealing the "boss" behind IDP Education Company Limited

According to the conclusion of the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Training on the association of organizing exams and granting foreign language proficiency certificates with IDP Education Vietnam Company Limited (IDP Education - IDP Education Vietnam), from November 17, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training issued decisions allowing IDP Education and Vietnamese parties to cooperate with IELTS Australia Pty Ltd to organize IELTS certification exams at the exam locations according to the decision.

However, from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, IDP Education has coordinated to organize IELTS Test Report Form for 67,195 people, issuing 66,153 IELTS certificates. Accordingly, IDP Education has issued more than 56,200 IELTS certificates before the Ministry of Education and Training allowed.

According to information from the national portal on business registration, IDP Education Company Limited (Vietnam) was established on December 17, 2007, headquartered at Hai Ba Trung Street, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang (born in 1976) is the legal representative and Director.

The registration change in October 2015 shows that the owner of IDP Education Limited is IDP Education Limited (Australia), headquartered at 535 Bourke Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000, Australia.

At that time, Mr. Peter Ronald Burges (born in 1952, Australian nationality) was the legal representative of this enterprise. At the same time, he was also the legal representative of IDP Education Vietnam.

According to the website, IDP Education is the world's leading study abroad consulting and IELTS test organization. In Vietnam, IDP Vietnam has been present since 1996, a familiar address for IELTS test takers and Vietnamese students studying abroad.

The inspection conclusion also pointed out that, as of December 2023, IDP Education had 467 employees, of which 30 were foreigners. The company has 14 facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho and Hanoi and has built a network system and organized IELTS testing and certification throughout the country.

By the end of 2023, IDP has 12 study abroad consulting offices nationwide with 27 testing locations in 17 provinces and cities including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Ha Long, Vinh, Dak Lak, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Thuan, Can Tho, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh and Gia Lai.

Information on the website of IDP Education Vietnam also shows that IDP Education has joined with UTS College to establish the ACET English center system to provide academic English programs and IELTS test preparation in Vietnam.

According to Vietdata, ACET's revenue in 2020-2021 increased by 14% from nearly 320 billion VND to more than 360 billion. Profit after tax reached nearly 70 billion VND in 2020. Despite the increase in revenue, in 2021, ACET reported a loss of nearly 35 billion VND.
