On May 6, a representative of Vietnam Airlines said that during the peak summer period of 2025, the airline will operate more than 43,000 flights across its entire network, equivalent to nearly 9 million seats serving passengers. This is an increase of nearly 14% compared to the same period in 2024.

On the domestic flight network, Vietnam Airlines plans to operate 33,000 flights with more than 6.3 million seats, an increase of 28% compared to the normal flight schedule, equivalent to nearly 1.4 million additional seats. To increase service capacity, the airline continues to operate early morning and late evening flights - a solution that has been effectively implemented in previous years.
Flights connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Hue, Quy Nhon, and Thanh Hoa are expected to attract a large number of passengers. Vietnam Airlines said it will focus on increasing the capacity of these routes to serve the needs of tourism and visiting relatives during the peak season.
In the international market, the peak summer of 2025 is also the time when the airline opens many new routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Bali, Nha Trang - Busan (from June) and Hanoi - Milan, Da Nang - Osaka (from July).
Civil Aviation Authority requests to increase flights and maintain reasonable ticket prices
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked airlines to develop detailed operational plans and increase resources to serve the summer peak, especially on tourist routes that are expected to see a sharp increase in demand. According to the plan, 68,558 domestic flights will be operated during this period, an increase of 18% over the same period last year.
Airlines are required to closely monitor the market situation, promptly add flights on routes with high demand, and increase operations during nighttime and off-peak hours. At the same time, they must closely coordinate with airports and service providers to ensure smooth operations and minimize delays and cancellations due to the airline.
Increasing the on-time performance (OTP) rate, ensuring compliance with fare regulations, and fulfilling full responsibility to passengers in case of delays or cancellations are also key requirements set forth by the Department. Airlines need to plan daily flights in accordance with confirmed flight permits and slots, and proactively inform passengers about operating schedules, and support the resolution of complaints and feedback during service use.
Regarding pricing policy, airlines must sell tickets within the prescribed price range, control the activities of ticket agents, and ensure that there is no price overrun or illegal selling.
Units need to coordinate with airlines to receive and promptly handle recommendations, avoiding "hot spots" at the airport.
The airport authority is assigned to strengthen supervision of transportation, promptly request airlines to fulfill their responsibilities to passengers, and strictly handle violations related to flight delays and cancellations.
