The Israeli military said on Wednesday that it intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Lebanon Wednesday morning over Tel Aviv.
Hezbollah said it launched the missile with the intended target being Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, which Hezbollah claims is responsible for the assassinations of several of its leaders, as well as mass attacks targeting handheld communications equipment such as pagers and walkie-talkies used by its fighters.

Hezbollah's missile launch triggered air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and across central Israel. No casualties or damage were reported, as the missile was successfully intercepted by the military.
The Israeli military believes this is Hezbollah's retaliation after another senior commander, Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, head of the missile and rocket forces, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Tuesday.
This is another blow to Hezbollah's leadership, which was already reeling from the loss of its top military commander and head of elite commandos, Radwan, last Friday.
These losses, along with sophisticated attacks that detonated thousands of handheld communication devices and wounded numerous Hezbollah fighters, are escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah to their highest level since 2006, pushing the two rivals to the brink of a full-scale war.
