Song Ma is one of the localities with a large number of youth union members, cadres, and soldiers of the armed forces who are always ready to donate blood at any time, promptly meeting the blood supply needs for emergency treatment of patients at hospitals.
Mr. Ha Van Thap, Secretary of the Song Ma District Youth Union, informed: In the district, many Youth Union members actively participate in blood donation multiple times, such as Song Tuan Tu, Youth Union member of the district government agencies; Lo Thi Hao, Secretary of the Youth Union of the District Health Center; Lo Thi Loan, Deputy Secretary of the Chieng Khuong Commune Youth Union... Specifically, in the 2025 Blood Donation Day, with the theme "Spring Red Festival", 200 Youth Union members participated, donating nearly 100 units of blood.
Embracing the proactive and volunteer spirit of youth, students from universities across the province are also actively participating in the blood donation movement. Nguyen Khanh Ly, a K63 student majoring in early childhood education at Tay Bac University, shared: "In 2024, when I first participated in blood donation, I was a little nervous, but knowing that my blood could save lives, I felt very proud. I regularly encourage my friends to participate in voluntary blood donation drives."
Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Red Cross Society has organized 4 awareness campaigns, with 1,500 participants and 1,300 people registering to volunteer to donate blood, resulting in the collection of 1,144 units of blood. Red Cross societies at all levels have organized hundreds of awareness sessions at the grassroots level, integrating awareness campaigns through radio broadcasts, billboards, posters, and social media, helping people better understand the benefits of blood donation, thereby encouraging voluntary participation and motivating their relatives to do the same.
Ms. Cam Thi Chuyen, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: In response to World Blood Donor Day on June 14th, the Society advised the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation to develop a plan to organize the "Red Journey" blood donation event in Son La city and Thuan Chau district. This will mobilize 1,550 officials, civil servants, armed forces personnel, youth union members, and citizens to participate, aiming to collect 1,300 units of blood. At the same time, many practical activities will be launched and implemented, including training in communication and mobilization skills for voluntary blood donation among volunteers...
With slogans like: "Donate a drop of blood - Give the gift of life," "Every drop of blood given saves a life," "Donating blood saves lives - A noble act,"... these have become concrete actions, spreading widely throughout the community. The voluntary blood donation movement not only contributes to ensuring a blood supply for emergency care and patient treatment, but also demonstrates compassion and responsibility towards the community. Every drop of blood shared is a ray of hope, a noble act, nurturing humanitarian values in society.
