Based on practical requirements

Over the years, the traditional martial arts movement in the province has developed quite strongly with more than 200 clubs and martial arts schools, and a large number of students participating in regular training. However, most of the records of martial artists, coaches, promotion exam data, martial arts forms, and club activities are still stored manually on paper.

Senior martial arts master Phan Thi Dieu Hang - Chief of the Office of the Provincial Traditional Martial Arts Federation - said: “Previously, every time we needed to review martial arts student records or compile activity statistics from various units, we had to manually gather information from many different sources. This was both time-consuming and prone to errors. As the number of clubs increases, applying technology to overcome this limitation is inevitable.”

Traditional martial arts encompass many forms and techniques that are passed down orally. Without establishing a digital data system soon, the risk of losing documentation, technical inaccuracies, or difficulty verifying professional information will increase.

Martial arts master Van Xuan Toan - Head of Van Xuan Thong martial arts school (Pleiku ward) shared: “Many ancient martial arts forms are now only held by a few elderly masters. If they are not recorded, digitized, and archived soon, the risk of them disappearing is high. I think digital transformation will help protect these original values better.”

The noteworthy aspect of the digitization of traditional martial arts lies not simply in converting paper records to electronic data, but more importantly, in creating a "heritage archive" using modern technology. Through images, videos, and digital data, forms, weapon techniques, characteristic skills, and traditional training methods can be preserved scientifically and for the long term.

This is an effective solution to limit the distortion of information during the teaching process. Digitizing data also makes it easier to promote traditional martial arts more widely to communities both domestically and internationally.

Initial results

Since 2024, the Provincial Traditional Martial Arts Federation, in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has begun implementing some aspects of digitizing traditional martial arts, showing positive results. Specifically, information on 175 martial arts schools and clubs in the province has been updated on the digital map platform at: voduongbinhdinh.vr360.com.vn.

In addition, five representative martial arts schools showcasing Binh Dinh's traditional martial arts have been updated with introductory videos , and three of these schools utilize VR360 technology to capture panoramic views, allowing viewers to experience them in virtual reality.

In the professional monitoring and data storage of traditional martial arts activities, information is currently updated via the website - vothuatbinhdinh.vn. Notably, in recent times, the Provincial Traditional Martial Arts Federation has implemented the development of professional regulations and is gradually standardizing information on clubs, martial arts masters, coaches, and students on a digital platform.

Each martial arts school and club will be given an account, through which they can update information on the system and submit it to the Provincial Martial Arts Federation for verification and approval. Initially, some martial arts schools and clubs have already applied the digital platform to manage student data, track training progress, update ranking exam records, and store martial arts forms in image and video format.

One of the clear benefits of digitalization is its contribution to building a more transparent and professional martial arts environment. Professional organizations can easily update student data, coach certifications, monitor training progress, and inspect the operating conditions of clubs. This helps to limit spontaneous, unprofessional, or improperly regulated activities.

Building a digital information system about martial arts masters, coaches, and students has also simplified administrative procedures when they register to participate in provincial-level martial arts competitions. In addition, the application of technology has helped improve the efficiency of organizing professional examinations and promoting traditional martial arts activities.

Martial arts student Nguyen Ho Ngoc Nhu from Phi Trung Quyen martial arts school (Tuy Phuoc commune) shared: “Young people are very quick to adopt technology. With an online learning platform and access to necessary information, traditional martial arts will attract more young people to learn and practice.”
