Recently, to achieve its production and business goals, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) has intensified labor and production emulation movements. Many of these emulation movements are creating a widespread impact, driving TKV to achieve its production and business targets, maintaining its important role, and ensuring national energy security.

On November 15, 1968, President Ho Chi Minh met and spoke with a delegation of coal industry workers and officials at the Presidential Palace. This was a historic event that left an unforgettable mark on coal industry workers and officials in particular, and the working class of Quang Ninh in general. At the meeting, President Ho Chi Minh instructed: “The coal production industry is like the army fighting the enemy. All workers and officials must have high revolutionary enthusiasm and patriotism, a firm will to fight and win, and must unite in solidarity, overcoming all difficulties for a common goal: producing as much coal as possible for the Fatherland.”
Bearing in mind President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, generations of miners have upheld the tradition of "Discipline and Unity," enthusiastically competing in combat and production, contributing to the sustainable development of the coal production front. Through these emulation movements, many positive factors and shining examples in production have been discovered, nurtured, and honored. They have become important factors helping the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) to promote emulation and achieve its production and business goals.
Miner Le Van Bien, from Exploitation Workshop 7 (Thong Nhat Coal Company - TKV), is a prime example of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh . Nearly 20 years dedicated to his profession, Mr. Bien has always been devoted, inquisitive, and eager to learn, promptly addressing challenges and finding solutions to overcome difficulties, increase labor productivity, and ensure safety. For many years, miner Le Van Bien has received the title of "Creative Miner" from the TKV Trade Union, the Creative Labor Award from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and is recognized as an advanced exemplary figure of TKV… Notably, in 2023, miner Le Van Bien was honored as one of 167 outstanding individuals nationwide to receive the 4th Nguyen Duc Canh Award from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Miner Le Van Bien shared: "The nature of mining work is quite arduous and difficult, constantly facing challenges and difficulties, requiring miners to have enthusiasm, physical strength, and good endurance. However, no matter the circumstances, the more difficult it is, the more we strive to compete. Realizing Uncle Ho's teachings to coal miners in the past, our production teams are now striving to learn from and follow Uncle Ho's example." The emulation movements for excellent and creative labor ... These emulation movements truly create a vibrant atmosphere of work and production in teams and groups, promptly motivating and encouraging workers to overcome difficulties and complete their tasks.

Recognizing that workers are the central focus and core of the production and business emulation movement, TKV has, in recent years, linked the launching of labor and production emulation campaigns with the continued promotion of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. To date, TKV has developed exemplary advanced individuals among direct laborers, such as worker Le Van Bien of Thong Nhat Coal Company, who was awarded the Nguyen Duc Canh Prize; and worker Nguyen Trong Thai of Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company, who was awarded the title of Hero of Labor in the đổi mới (renovation) period by the President of Vietnam…
Currently, many emulation movements within the coal industry have created a unique identity, laying the foundation for the Group's sustainable development and making a significant contribution to the vibrant emulation atmosphere nationwide. Notably, according to each stage and production and business task, the Group has flexibly organized and launched emulation movements with objectives such as "Safety - Innovation - Development".
The "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" emulation movement has typically contributed to increased labor productivity, cost savings, reduced product prices, improved safety, and better working conditions for workers. The number of coal miners earning over 300 million VND/person/year is steadily increasing. In 2023 alone, the Group had over 9,000 miners earning over 300 million VND/year. Responding to the "1 Million Initiatives - Overcoming Difficulties, Innovating, and Determining to Win Against the Covid-19 Pandemic" program from September 1, 2021 to September 1, 2023, TKV contributed 10,526 initiatives, achieving 105% of the plan.
It is known that in 2024, TKV aims to produce 38.74 million tons of raw coal and consume 50 million tons of coal. In the context of stabilizing production after typhoon No. 3, currently , 100% of TKV units are launching a 90-day emulation campaign to complete production and business targets for 2024.
In the first 10 months of 2024, raw coal production reached over 30 million tons, achieving 79.1% of the annual plan; coal consumption reached 37.76 million tons, achieving 75.5% of the annual plan. This November, TKV aims to produce 3.4 million tons of coal and sell over 4.5 million tons.
Mr. Le Thanh Xuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Workers' Union, stated: To continue fulfilling President Ho Chi Minh's instruction to "produce as much coal as possible for the Fatherland," in the coming time, the TKV Workers' Union will continue to effectively care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of its members and workers; spreading many exemplary individuals and groups, many innovative initiatives, models, and good practices that contribute to fulfilling assigned tasks.
The trade union will work closely with the Group to ensure employment, stable living conditions, and income for workers. Alongside this, it will launch numerous emulation movements, especially the "Innovation - Productivity - High Income" emulation movement, creating motivation and goals for cadres and workers. Through this, it will contribute to building a sustainably developing Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group.
