Coach Kim Sang-sik actively integrates into Vietnamese culture
In the locker room after the team won the 2024 AFF Cup, striker Dinh Thanh Binh spontaneously turned on livestream to share with fans the moments of the 3rd Southeast Asian championship in history. The phone lens at that time captured the moment when he and coach Kim Sang-sik took a souvenir photo with the AFF Cup trophy and a picture of Uncle Ho.
A meaningful image shows that Coach Kim Sang-sik has integrated very well with football culture and Vietnamese culture. Mr. Kim's eagerness to learn and desire to integrate was shown right from the first days, when he diligently studied to read each player's name clearly in Vietnamese on the day of his debut.
Those small bricks, accumulated through each day of hard work, have created today's memorable championship, when the Vietnamese team beat Thailand 3-2 at Rajamangala (final score 5-3) to be crowned champions of the AFF Cup 2024.

A victory that delighted fans of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team, when they made the "War Elephants" lose convincingly right at home at Rajamangala Stadium even though they did everything they could, even if it wasn't pretty.
But Coach Kim Sang-sik’s greatest victory was creating the great strength of a unified team. That unity came from teachers to students, between the Vietnamese players and officials, with Mr. Kim and his Korean assistants.
Television footage before the second leg of the final at Rajamangala Stadium showed coach Kim Sang-sik naturally singing the Vietnamese national anthem with his hand on his chest, as he had done it many times.
A small action but it says a lot. Just like the way he performed the famous celebratory dance at Rajamangala Stadium as he promised when he first arrived in Vietnam.
Mr. Kim stirs up Vietnamese pride
Mr. Kim was happy at the moment of the Vietnamese team's coronation.
We won the championship thanks to finding a strong, humble and hungry Vietnamese team. Only with true team spirit, captain Duy Manh, vice captain Tien Linh or star Quang Hai, whether playing as a starter or a reserve, are willing and confident in their teammates when it is their turn to "rotate" on the field.
That is the greatest success of coach Kim Sang-sik, coming from the efforts and enthusiastic learning of the famous Korean football player who is already very rich in finance and reputation, with a huge collection of K-League titles.

But when he arrived in Vietnam, the coach born in 1976 immediately abandoned the halo of a top Korean football star, to actively learn from every possible channel to better understand the unique culture in Vietnam.
Fortunately for Mr. Kim, the integration process has saved a lot of time thanks to the advice of his predecessor Park Hang-seo and his agent Lee Dong-jun, who understands Vietnamese football and people very well. But Mr. Kim is very independent in the way he uses people and applies tactics, with many decisions very different from Mr. Park's style.
As mentioned above, most importantly, Coach Kim Sang-sik has successfully ignited pride in each player.
