Recently, Kim Dong Publishing House released a bilingual Vietnamese - Japanese version of the work A Brief History of Vietnam in Pictures . The book was translated by Professor Shimizu Masaaki from the Center for Vietnamese Studies, edited by Dr. Kondo Mika and Professor Okada Masashi. Ms. Le Thuong, President of the General Association of Vietnamese in the Kansai region, said: "This is a good and valuable book about Vietnamese history, helping second and third generation children born in Japan understand more about their national origins as well as students majoring in Japanese have the opportunity to be exposed to historical language...". This is also the first panorama publication about Vietnamese history for children. Since 2011, the book has sold more than 200,000 copies and besides the Vietnamese - Japanese version, the book has also been translated into English and Korean.

Within the framework of the Asian Copyright Fair 2025 (ASIAN Right Fair 2025) held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) at the end of May, the work Ly Thuong Kiet in the Vietnamese History in Pictures series by Tre Publishing House was awarded the ARF Distinguished Awards 2025. This is a category honoring the best illustrated works for children in the Southeast Asian region. The work has also been previously translated into English with the hope of reaching out to international readers.
Another name that also has an impressive achievement is the comic book Van Nhan Ky - Noan (Du But and Thanh Nien Publishing House) which won the bronze prize at the 18th Japan International Manga Contest. This is a fictional work set in the 18th century during the Trinh - Nguyen - Tay Son conflict. Although it has not been translated yet, this step forward is a welcome sign when a historical work is named in an international contest, hoping to open up new connections in the near future.
The above books not only become a "bridge" for generations of overseas Vietnamese currently living and working abroad to connect with their roots, but also help international friends understand more about the country and people of Vietnam.
