Coach Kim Sang Sik: U23 Vietnam will aim for the U23 Asian Cup finals with the best preparation

After a 1-0 victory over U23 Yemen, U23 Vietnam officially qualified for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship with a perfect record of winning all 3 matches in Group C.

In his opening remarks, Coach Kim Sang Sik congratulated his players for their tireless efforts. The Korean coach also expressed his appreciation for the affection from the audience.

Next, I would like to thank the fans for coming to the stadium and cheering enthusiastically for U23 Vietnam. The whole team will continue to strive towards the U23 Asian final round with the best preparation” - Coach Kim Sang Sik shared.

In the last 3 matches, Coach Kim Sang Sik has rotated his squad, using all the players on the roster evenly, creating opportunities for the players to compete, express themselves and contribute to the team.

According to the Korean strategist, in the qualifying round with 3 consecutive matches, the players cannot maintain high intensity continuously. Therefore, the coaching staff needs to make adjustments and distribute the force evenly to ensure the goal.

In Group C, U23 Vietnam started with a 2-0 victory over U23 Bangladesh, then beat U23 Singapore 1-0, before defeating U23 Yemen also by the minimum score. With 9 absolute points, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team not only won a ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship in Saudi Arabia but also extended U23 Vietnam's record of 6 consecutive appearances at the continental finals.
