On the afternoon of March 18th, Cambodia 's coach Koji Gyotoku shared his thoughts on the preparations for the important friendly match against Vietnam.
The Japanese coach frankly stated: "The Cambodian team's goal is to win against the Vietnamese team. Vietnam is a strong team, a top team in the region, and the champion of the 2024 ASEAN Cup, so our goal will not be easy."
"I watched some of Vietnam's matches, especially their victory over Thailand in the ASEAN Cup 2024. The Vietnamese team organized the game well, and their championship win was entirely deserved," commented Mr. Koji.
When asked by the Cambodian media about his statement, "If Cambodia wins against the 2024 ASEAN Cup champions Vietnam, they will practically be champions," the Japanese coach simply smiled.
He further clarified: "Winning against Vietnam is not easy. When we play against the champions, I want to see what the Cambodian team can and cannot do."

When asked about the absence of striker Nguyen Xuan Son from the Vietnamese national team, the coach expressed regret over Son's injury. He explained: "I wanted the Cambodian defenders to have the opportunity to face a good striker like Xuan Son. But Vietnam still has many good players, for example, Hoang Duc."
Coach Koji also praised his colleague Kim Sang Sik. "Coach Kim Sang Sik is a capable person and once defeated a Japanese coach in the Thai national team. He has proven his worth while working with Vietnamese football," Coach Koji expressed.
The match between the Vietnamese and Cambodian national teams is a friendly game held during FIFA Days. The match will take place at 7:30 PM at Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong province.
