On the afternoon of March 18, Coach Koji Gyotoku of the Cambodian team shared about the preparations before the friendly but important match against the Vietnamese team.
The Japanese coach frankly said: "The goal of the Cambodian team is to win against the Vietnamese team. Vietnam is a strong team, the top team in the region and the champion of the 2024 ASEAN Cup, so our goal will not be easy."
"I watched some of Vietnam's matches, especially the victory over Thailand at the ASEAN Cup 2024. Vietnam organized the match well and was completely deserving of the championship," commented Mr. Koji.
When asked about the statement "If Cambodia wins against the 2024 ASEAN Cup champion Vietnam, it will be considered the championship" to the Cambodian media, the Japanese coach just smiled.
He added: "Winning against the Vietnamese team is not easy. I want to see what the Cambodian team can and cannot do when playing against the champion team."

When asked about the absence of striker Nguyen Xuan Son from the Vietnam team, the coach expressed regret that Son was injured. He explained: "I want the Cambodian defenders to have the opportunity to face a good striker like Xuan Son. But Vietnam still has many good players, for example Hoang Duc."
Mr. Koji also highly appreciated his colleague Kim Sang Sik. "Coach Kim Sang Sik is a capable person and once defeated a Japanese coach in the Thai team. He has affirmed his value when working with Vietnamese football," Coach Koji expressed.
The match between Vietnam and Cambodia is a friendly match on the occasion of FIFA Days. The match takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong province.
