In the second leg of the final on the evening of January 5, the Vietnamese team defeated Thailand 3-2, thereby winning the final after 2 matches with a total score of 5-3. This is the 3rd time in history, after 2008 and 2018, that the "Golden Star Warriors" have stepped onto the highest podium of the AFF Cup. Even more proud, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team won the championship with an unbeaten streak: 7 wins, 1 draw.

After Coach Park Hang-seo and Coach Henrique Calisto (Portuguese), Mr. Kim Sang-sik became the third captain to help the Vietnamese team win the Southeast Asian championship. Coach Park Hang-seo assessed that the AFF Cup 2024 championship will help Mr. Kim Sang-sik confidently aim for further goals with Vietnamese football.
Coach Park Hang-seo said: “I believe it is time for Vietnamese football to go beyond its goals in Southeast Asia. Aim for new milestones in the Asian arena. I believe you can do it. I will always support and follow Vietnamese football.”
Mr. Park Hang-seo believes that the Vietnamese team will have more success in the future.

Meanwhile, Mr. Henrique Calisto also sent his congratulations to Vietnamese football: "Vietnam is the champion again. Congratulations to the players, coaches, staff and all the Vietnamese people for this memorable victory. I am as happy as you are. A big hug to all. Long live Vietnam."
