Coach Thomas Tuchel reached an agreement to lead the England team

England terminated Gareth Southgate's contract in July after the Three Lions lost Euro 2024 to Spain on July 15th, missing out on the title. Lee Carsley then became England's interim manager and was tasked with overseeing six group stage matches in the 2024-2025 Nations League.

According to Sky Sports, Tuchel will begin his duties on January 1, 2025. This means that interim manager Lee Carsley will continue to lead England in the UEFA Nations League matches against Greece on November 14 and Ireland on November 17 during the FIFA Days at the end of 2024.

Coach Tuchel has long been targeted by the English Football Association (FA) as a strong candidate to replace his predecessor Gareth Southgate. The FA also considered Pep Guardiola, but the Spanish strategist has yet to give an answer, and it is likely he will remain at the Etihad Stadium for another year.

Coach Tuchel previously led Chelsea to victory in the Champions League in 2021 as head coach. He also has extensive experience managing top European clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and most recently, Bayern Munich.

Thomas Tuchel met many of England's criteria by winning 11 major titles, including the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea; two Ligue 1 titles, two French Super Cups, one French Cup, one French League Cup with PSG; the German Cup with Dortmund; and the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

The 51-year-old manager is also a free agent after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season, which facilitates negotiations with the FA.

The German coach also knows Harry Kane very well because the England captain played under Tuchel when he was managing Bayern Munich. Kane scored 44 goals in 45 games under Tuchel, and the striker praised him as a great coach.

"Honestly, he's a great coach and very experienced. However, I'm also surprised by Tuchel's decision. Let's wait and see how Tuchel performs in his new role," Kane told the press when asked about Tuchel's negotiations with the FA.
