The model was implemented in two households with legally owned coffee plantations, not involved in deforestation after 2020. Each household received support in the form of 15 breeding goats and participated in training courses on goat care and breeding techniques. Prior to this, the Gia Lai Provincial Agricultural Extension Center had also implemented this model in two households in Mang Yang commune.

This is one of the components of the livelihood model development plan under the "Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems (SAFE) - Vietnam Component" project in Gia Lai, implemented by the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ) in collaboration with the Gia Lai Agricultural Extension Center. The goal is to develop sustainable coffee production linked to forest protection in accordance with the European Union's regulations on deforestation (EUDR).

The project aims to promote livelihood diversification, adapt to climate change, help coffee growers living near forests access and increase their income, reduce pressure on forest resource exploitation, and thereby meet the European Union's anti-deforestation regulations.
