Young artists follow tradition
At the 80th anniversary of the Cultural Industry's Traditional Day, singer Ha Myo represented young artists to express gratitude to previous generations. They were the ones who gave young artists like her the confidence and aspiration to find their own unique identity and strong love for art. "In this solemn ceremony, I would like to represent the young generation of the entire industry to express my gratitude and deep appreciation to previous generations - those who laid the foundation, nurtured and brought the Vietnamese cultural industry to achieve the brilliant achievements it has today," said Ha Myo.
She also shared the path that she and other young artists are taking - bringing traditional art with smooth, soulful folk melodies and love into contemporary works of art - is the way she and they contribute a small part to preserving and developing the national cultural identity. From there, traditional music is given a new breath, lives forever, gets closer to the youth and reaches out to the world.
"We, the young generation of artists today, deeply feel the continuity between the past, present and future. If the predecessors have sown the seeds and nurtured a culture rich in identity, then the younger generation will be the ones to follow, nurture and develop it to new heights," said the artist who just received the certificate of merit at the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Cultural Industry's Traditional Day.
In February 1943, the Outline of Vietnamese Culture was approved. The document clearly stated three principles of cultural movement: nationalization, scientificization and popularization; at the same time, it affirmed that culture is a front, and cultural workers are soldiers.
On August 28, 1945, the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam issued a proclamation, and the Ministry of Information and Communications was established in the national cabinet. This was the predecessor of today's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. August 28 every year has become the Traditional Day of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector.
