Chinese scholar: The visit of General Secretary and President To Lam is a strategic choice.

Speaking to a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter in Beijing about the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam, Professor Vu Huong Dong, Director of the Vietnam Research Institute at Zhengzhou University (China), emphasized that the visit held great significance.

In international diplomacy, the choice of which country a leader visits first carries symbolic significance. As a scholar with many years of research on Vietnam and Sino-Vietnamese relations, Professor Vu Huong Dong pointed out that this visit demonstrates: Firstly, Vietnam's socio-political development currently maintains a stable trend. Comrade To Lam and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam continue to adhere to Ho Chi Minh Thought, inheriting the political legacy left by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, leading Vietnam to continue on the socialist path, and further promoting the cause of reform, opening up, and modernization. Secondly, the friendly neighborly relations between the two countries have a long historical origin and a deep foundation. The "comradely and brotherly" friendship built by Chairman Mao Zedong and President Ho Chi Minh has developed strongly in the new situation. The fact that General Secretary and President To Lam chose Guangzhou, a place of significant importance to the early revolutionary causes of both China and Vietnam, for his first visit demonstrates the high regard he places on the precious friendship between the two Parties and peoples of China and Vietnam. Thirdly, direct talks, in-depth exchanges, and joint planning between the leaders of the two Parties and countries will further promote the building of a strategically significant China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future, deepening exchanges and substantive cooperation across various fields and levels between the two countries, leading them to walk together on the path of modernization and steadfast socialist development.
