With his “exceptional” A-level results, Mahnoor Cheema has received an offer to study medicine at Oxford University (UK). This has also been Cheema’s dream since childhood.
Typically, in the last two years of secondary school, students in the UK will gradually reduce the number of subjects to 3, to match the major they plan to study at university. When taking the A-level exam, students also usually only take the 3 subjects they have studied in depth.

However, Mahnoor Cheema, a student from London (UK), once intended to study up to 31 subjects for her A-level exams. This was opposed by the principal of Henrietta Barnett School - where she studied. After a "negotiation" process, Cheema agreed to reduce the number of subjects from 31 to... 23.
Cheema shared that if she only studied 3 specialized subjects like her friends, she would find it “boring and without challenges to overcome.”
In fact, Cheema also had many problems in arranging time to attend enough classes as required for all 23 registered subjects. This is one of the conditions to ensure that students have enough knowledge to take the A-level exam.
Before being considered eligible to take the exam by the school, Cheema was asked by the school board to explain her absences in some subjects, even though she still met the requirements set by the subject teacher.
After giving a reasonable explanation, showing that she had to attend many classes at the same time and had to constantly arrange to take many exams in different subjects, Cheema was allowed by the school to sit for the A-level exams.

The student took A-level exams in all 23 subjects she registered for. The number of exams Cheema took was nearly eight times higher than the majority of other candidates (who usually only register for 3 subjects).
During her high school years, Cheema studied subjects such as politics , geography, chemistry, economics, accounting, computer science, marine environmental science, business, law, history, biology, psychology, mathematics, statistics, communications, Latin, French, German, physics, English literature, sociology...
When the results were announced, Cheema stunned everyone by scoring 23 A and A+ grades in all 23 subjects she had applied for. Mahnoor Cheema immediately became the phenomenon student of the recent A-level exam in the UK.
“I have many interests, so I want to study many subjects. For me, this does not take too much time or effort. I think if you have the ability, you should exploit it. If you choose to do what you love, what you do will not make you feel tired or exhausted,” Cheema said.
Previously, during her secondary school years at Langley Grammar School, Cheema had registered for 10 subjects at school to take the final exam and self-studied 24 other subjects. When she took the secondary school graduation exam, Cheema registered for all 34 subjects and achieved 33 9s and one 8.
Cheema's family said she showed signs of being different from an early age. At age 6, she was able to read books on her own and had read the entire Harry Potter series. At age 11, Cheema had read the entire Oxford dictionary.
