This morning, May 15th, the People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam province) officially implemented a plan to strengthen the management of guided tours in Hoi An ancient town .

According to reports, in addition to the 10 existing ticket checkpoints in Hoi An Old Town, the city has set up two new ticket counters at bus station 332 (Ly Thuong Kiet Street) and Thanh Ha bus station (more than 1 km from the city center) to facilitate ticket purchases for tourists and minimize ticket losses. Each location has staff to sell and guide tour groups as they disembark.

The ticket price remains at 80,000 VND for domestic tourists and 120,000 VND for international tourists. Most tour groups comply with purchasing tickets to enter the Old Quarter area. The exact number of tickets sold will only be compiled at the end of the day, providing a basis for comparison with sales figures before implementing the new plan. For now, the local authorities note an improvement in the situation.

A tour guide buys tickets for the group of tourists before they enter the old town.

To serve tourists, more than 10 electric vehicles are parked at the station. The price is set at 10,000 VND per person for distances under 3 km, with a minimum of 5 people per trip. Other passengers traveling from the bus station to points near the Old Quarter also pay this fare.

Along Phan Chau Trinh Street, more than 5 alleys have been fitted with directional signs by the An Minh ward's civil defense force, stating: "Tourists please go to the nearest counter for guidance and assistance in visiting the Old Quarter."

In addition, personnel are stationed in each alleyway to enhance control and management of entrance tickets in these areas. Simultaneously, information and directional signs are placed in these alleyways to clearly inform tourists of the local government's policy regarding ticket sales.

Place information and directional signs in alleyways and narrow streets so that tourists can find their way.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An City, the plan to strengthen control over entrance fees to the ancient town focuses on tourists traveling in groups. These groups are identified as belonging to travel companies, accompanied by tour guides and flags, and usually traveling in vehicles with 15 seats or more.

Authorities are stationed to guide, control, and manage entrance tickets in the alleys and side streets.

The city will ban vehicles with more than 15 seats from entering the city center. Vehicles must park at two designated parking areas outside, more than 1 km from the Old Quarter. Upon arrival, staff will sell tickets at these locations. Afterwards, a shuttle electric vehicle will take guests to points near the Old Quarter, accompanied by a tour guide. They will be transported into the Old Quarter via main roads, bypassing alleyways and side streets.

"Compared to before, the number of guides, inspectors, and ticket managers has nearly doubled. This plan is expected to improve the long-standing shortcomings in ticket control for tourist attractions, aiming to provide the most attentive service to visitors. We have provided identification kits and necessary information for tourists visiting the Old Quarter, as well as guidance on what to do, and our guides are dedicated to assisting them," said Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh.
