World oil prices
Overall for the week, this marks the second consecutive week of declines in crude oil prices. Compared to the previous week, prices have fallen by 3.5%.
Energy services firm Baker Hughes Co. said this week that U.S. energy companies cut the number of active rigs for the eighth consecutive week. The number of U.S. oil rigs, an indicator of future production, fell $6 to $546 this week, the lowest level since April 2022.
Oil prices recovered slightly today.
The US inventory report showed that crude oil inventories unexpectedly fell by 3.8 million barrels to 463.3 million barrels in the week ending June 16.
US crude oil exports rose to 4.5 million barrels per day last week, while imports fell by about 50% to 1.6 million barrels per day.
Similarly, according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA), U.S. gasoline inventories (USOILG=ECI) increased by 500,000 barrels this week to 221.4 million barrels, and distillate product inventories (USOILD=ECI), including diesel and heating oil, increased by 400,000 barrels this week to 114.3 million barrels.
Domestic fuel prices
In the domestic market, today's fuel prices are based on the rates set in the June 21st price adjustment by the inter- ministerial committee of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Accordingly, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline remains at 20,878 VND/liter; the price of RON95 gasoline (the most common type on the market) also remains unchanged at 22,015 VND/liter compared to the previous adjustment period.
Meanwhile, the price of diesel increased by 146 VND/liter, not exceeding 18,174 VND/liter; kerosene increased by 133 VND/liter to 17,956 VND/liter.
The price of fuel oil decreased by 132 VND/kg, not exceeding 14,578 VND/kg.
Since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have undergone 18 adjustments, including 9 increases, 6 decreases, and 3 times remaining unchanged.
