The 4.0 revolution has created major changes in all aspects of social life. This is not only a need but also a mandatory requirement, determining the survival of press agencies. Therefore, the construction of a converged newsroom, a digital newsroom, a smart newsroom in accordance with Decision No. 348/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister: Approving the Strategy for digital transformation of journalism to 2025, with a vision to 2030 is an inevitable trend.

On October 17, 2024, Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper officially launched the operation of the converged newsroom. Marking an important milestone in implementing the digital transformation model to improve content quality management and office management through the application of information technology, using artificial intelligence in operations according to the convergence mechanism, multi-platform on the same CMS.

Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Economic & Urban Newspaper, emphasized that digital transformation of the press helps the digital press ecosystem to be enriched with new and superior features, improving the quality and effectiveness of communication.

This is a new activity and quite difficult to organize and implement. However, in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution and current competitive information, good content is not enough, but it is necessary to create new experiences for readers through digital technology applications.

Smart newsroom is a multi-platform, multi-tool model, in which the organization of departments, arrangement of published content, and working methods of reporters have many differences compared to traditional newsrooms. The converged newsroom model and smart newsroom are inevitable trends in the near future, because converging a flexible digital platform, all stages in the journalism process from collecting, processing, producing to distributing content are digitized and optimized thanks to modern technologies such as AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Blockchain, and IoT. At the same time, effectively manage the electronic office; convert from text to audio, convert from audio, images, pdf to text, chatbox, spell check, copyright press, search support, topic suggestions, information, user optimization, access to digitized documents right on the same system...
