From a strong tradition…

Over the past 6 decades, since the historical milestone of the founding of the Ha Giang Newspaper Editorial Board and the first issue of Ha Giang Newspaper (April 13, 1964), the News Department has not only affirmed its core role in content creation but has also been considered the "soul" and "backbone" that creates the identity and reputation of the local Party newspaper.

With the nature of highly mobile, independent work, closely linked to the grassroots practice, each reporter is both a writer and a problem discoverer, connecting information and reflecting the breath of life honestly and vividly. Many generations of reporters who grew up from the "cradle" of the News Department have become pillars of the Editorial Board or held important positions in major press agencies. Thereby, creating a mark affirming the quality and unceasing contribution of the News Department to journalism in general and the communication work of the province in particular. Sharing about the characteristics of journalism in the northernmost border province of the country, journalist Dang Kim Tien - Deputy Head of the News Department said: "To get to some remote villages and hamlets, reporters sometimes have to travel more than 200 km of dangerous mountain roads, looking up to see mountains, looking down to see abysses, in winter the road is covered with fog, and even have to face language barriers when ethnic minorities cannot speak the common language". But it is in these hardships that the qualities of journalists are tempered. Thanks to perseverance and not being afraid to penetrate into reality, each year the News Department produces about 4,000 - 5,000 news, articles, and photos, exceeding the target by 300%, ensuring that information is always accurate, timely, in-depth, and widespread.

In reality, there is almost no sudden event at the base that is absent from the News Department reporters, from the forest fire in the border area of ​​three communes Phuong Tien, Xin Chai, Lao Chai (Vi Xuyen); dangerous landslides in Bac Me, Bac Quang to the flooding situation in Ha Giang city when affected by storms... All are reflected directly, vividly, with a spirit of dedication and admirable professional qualities. That is also the reason why the reporters' works are not only welcomed by readers but also highly appreciated by experts for their depth and influence.

To improve the effectiveness of propaganda work, the News Department is constantly innovating, adapting flexibly and being more creative in its approach to issues. Currently, with 16 permanent and contract reporters - most of whom are young, dynamic and knowledgeable in their field, the Department has effectively implemented the model of "reporters in charge of the area". Each district and city has one permanent reporter and one contract reporter accompanying and closely following up, helping to increase the depth of information and reduce the lack of local news and articles.

With the spirit of serving the Fatherland, serving the People, ready to go to the grassroots, daring to think, daring to do, the News Department is not only a source of lively news for the newspaper but also a place to nurture many high-quality works. Determining that participating in national journalism awards is an opportunity to practice and improve professional capacity. Therefore, the News Department has established 4 key groups to carry out the series of articles for national journalism awards. The implementation process has the close accompaniment of the Editorial Board from the stages of coming up with ideas, building outlines, presenting, criticizing to completing the entries - demonstrating professional thinking and a spirit of learning, high responsibility for each journalistic work.

2013 marked a bright milestone when Ha Giang Newspaper won the National Press Award for the first time, conducted by journalist Dang Quang Vuong - then Deputy Editor-in-Chief. However, it was not until nearly a decade later that Ha Giang Newspaper truly broke through, making a strong mark on the national press map with a series of outstanding achievements, consecutively winning 9 prestigious national awards in less than 4 years (2022 - 2025 period), including: 1 Golden Hammer and Sickle C Prize; C and Encouragement Prizes of Dien Hong Prize; B Prize for Gender Equality; Encouragement Prize of National Press Award and 4 other important awards in the fields of: Traffic - Transportation, Youth Union activities, youth movement, "Studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh ".

The above awards are vivid evidence of the right direction, serious investment, methodical strategy and the spirit of dedication and creativity of the team of reporters and the News Department. Typical faces such as: Kim Tien, Bien Luan, Thu Phuong, Nguyen Phuong, Tran Ke, Le Hai, Pham Hoan, Nguyen Dieu... have not only become "brands" in the local press but also contributed to affirming the position of Ha Giang Newspaper in the national press arena. Their works are highly appreciated for their form of expression, quality of content, depth of criticism and humanity, full of the breath of life, touching the hearts of readers.

With a series of remarkable achievements, impressive workload, increasingly outstanding quality... has reflected the inner strength of a united, intelligent and constantly innovative and creative collective. Noble awards such as the title "Excellent Labor Collective" of the Provincial People's Committee, many Certificates of Merit from all levels and sectors from the Central to the local level for collectives and individuals, along with the trust and love of readers are worthy recognition for the journey of dedication and efforts of the News Department collective.

Now, in the historical turning point when Ha Giang province merges with Tuyen Quang to form the new Tuyen Quang province according to the Party's policy of streamlining the apparatus, the News Department is facing strategic challenges and opportunities. Ha Giang Newspaper will merge with Tuyen Quang Radio and Television Newspaper and Station to become a new unit. However, with the tradition of solidarity, the spirit of innovation, professional courage and the desire to contribute, each reporter of the Department will constantly strive to continue writing golden pages in the journey of revolutionary journalism with enthusiasm, responsibility and with all the passionate love for the sacred northernmost land of the Fatherland.
