Over 1,200 students from the Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) achieved high scores in the 2023 Cambridge exams, including four "Top in Vietnam" awards (Highest scores in Vietnam).

In addition, 170 students received the "Perfect Score in All Subjects" award, nearly 300 received medals for outstanding achievement, and over 800 were awarded for high achievements in Cambridge international academic exams and Cambridge English certificates.

VAS held an awards ceremony for its students at the Hoa Binh Theater (Ho Chi Minh City), with the participation of representatives from Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), including Mr. Melvyn Lim - Senior Country Director for Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia.

During the 2022-2023 academic year, VAS students achieved many high results in international examinations organized by CAIE, including: Cambridge Checkpoint Primary, Cambridge Checkpoint Secondary, Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), Advanced Baccalaureate (Cambridge AS, A Level) and Cambridge English exams, including: Starters, Movers, Flyers, PET, KET.

Specifically, four VAS students were awarded the prestigious "Top in Vietnam" title (Highest Scores in Vietnam) in English as a Second Language and Economics in the IGCSE and AS Level exams. In addition, 50 students received the "Perfect Score in All Subjects" trophy, and 216 students were awarded prizes for achieving excellent grades in all subjects.

Cambridge International Exams are administered, graded centrally, and results are sent to the school by the Cambridge Examination Board. VAS has no right to interfere with the results. Thousands of students worldwide, from Australia to Zambia, take these exams at the same time and receive their results simultaneously.

Mr. Nigel Cropley, CEO of VAS Sala campus, also shared that the students present at the awards ceremony were not there by luck, but also due to many other factors. They studied hard and were determined to become the best versions of themselves, overcoming challenges with perseverance. This is also the result of the support and encouragement from their families, enabling them to achieve the best possible results.

He also encouraged students to reflect on their true self-worth. These are valuable qualities, perhaps even more valuable than academic achievements. Furthermore, he advised young people not to lose sight of the meaning of a compassionate heart; instead, they should be themselves, try to reduce their time on social media and mobile phones, and spend more time talking with family and friends.

"These relationships are the most important gift you can have. I hope you will never lose your passion for learning and your determination to achieve success," he emphasized.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity for high-achieving students to express their gratitude to their teachers and families, and to share their study tips. Representing the award-winning students, Dao Maja, a 9th-grade student from VAS Riverside campus, stated that although she had previously studied in Poland, she had never achieved perfect scores in Math and English. However, after integrating into the international environment at VAS, she was able to do so.

Like many of her peers, the female student tried various methods and found the best way to learn, maintaining a reading habit and developing self-learning skills. According to Maja, everyone should be willing to ask questions because those opportunities decrease as they get older.

"Self-learning will be an important life skill throughout life. The important thing is that we need to strive to become the best version of ourselves. Just keep trying until you achieve success and never give up," Maja added.

The Cambridge General Education Program is one of the most popular international education programs today, implemented in over 10,000 schools in more than 160 countries worldwide. It is also the program of choice for parallel teaching alongside the national curriculum in many countries, including Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, Indonesia, and India.

In Vietnam, VAS was one of the first schools to introduce the Cambridge program, starting in the 2013-2014 academic year. After 10 years of implementation, the program has become increasingly refined, improving both the number of students enrolled and the academic quality.

Previously, two VAS students were also awarded "Top in the world" in IGCSE English in 2017 and IGCSE Mathematics in 2022. To date, the school has had 8 Vietnamese valedictorians in international academic examinations such as Cambridge.
