More than 50% of valedictorians honored by Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 are female

Among the 88 valedictorians (entrance and graduation) named at the 2025 Valedictorian Honors Program, 46 are female.

On November 21, at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City organized the 2025 Valedictorian Honors Program, to honor and commend students who achieved the title of valedictorian in entrance exams and valedictorian in graduation from universities, academies and colleges in the city.

If the top students are considered as seeds full of aspirations, then the top students at graduation are the flowers that are blooming with the most brilliant fragrance. With a ready spirit, all of these excellent examples are using their youth and knowledge to contribute, writing new pages for the development of the country.

Journey to the top

Student Nguyen Ho Bao Khanh, valedictorian of Ba Ria - Vung Tau University with a score of 28.07/30, also won the third prize in the provincial Geography competition in the 2023-2024 school year and the title of 3 Good Students at the provincial level in the 2024-2025 school year.

Sharing about the journey to becoming valedictorian, Bao Khanh said that it was a journey not only limited to scores but also maturity through Union - Association activities and community work.

"When I was still in high school, I was assigned the role of Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union. It is thanks to the Youth Union movement that I today have become more confident and bold to tell my story and spread positive energy to new students," Bao Khanh shared.

Student Nguyen Ho Bao Khanh, valedictorian of Ba Ria - Vung Tau University, shared at the program.

Talking about his most memorable memory, Bao Khanh said it was the project "Three Good Journey - One Good Thing Every Day", which he and his friends from Chau Thanh High School built together. The project aims to support students in practicing skills through workshops, sharing sessions, group activities... helping each student self-evaluate, contribute ideas together and progress together.

"Thanks to those efforts, I was fortunate to have twice achieved the title of Three Good Students at the provincial level, a source of pride and a springboard to help me confidently enter university. Those experiences helped me realize that I need to continue to strive towards the title of Five Good Students, to become a courageous Youth Union - Association officer, daring to make a difference. I hope that Ho Chi Minh City will have more playgrounds, scholarships and useful activities for students to have the conditions to develop their talents, helping me have more experiences to grow up", Bao Khanh expressed.

Another outstanding flower is Duong Nhat Nam, the valedictorian of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2025. Nhat Nam graduated with distinction with a cumulative average score of 3.63/4, and was also the valedictorian of the Resident Physician majoring in Urology and received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Health for his outstanding achievements in supporting the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City.

Doctor Duong Nhat Nam, valedictorian of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2025, recounts his journey of participating in the fight against Covid-19.

Nhat Nam confided: many students when remembering their student life often remember the hours of class, the exams or the activities with friends. But for Nam, the most profound memory is the decision to join the volunteer team during the Covid-19 outbreak. Nam participated in the campaign of Consulting - Caring for F0 at Home organized by the Student Union of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Nhat Nam said: "One morning, I received a call from a young man with a trembling voice and shortness of breath. Because he was so worried, he thought he was getting worse. I reassured him, guided him on how to recognize the symptoms, how to handle panic, and told him that whenever he felt unwell, he should call the counseling team, they were always ready to support him.

2025 Valedictorian Honors Program.

After the consultation, she felt calmer and her health returned to normal. She shared that she was panicked because she saw many people around her getting worse and not surviving. That story made her realize even more that studying medicine is not only to treat illnesses, but also to listen, accompany and heal the fears of patients. Today, standing here as a young doctor, what I aim for is not a degree or reputation, but the image of a dedicated, careful doctor who makes patients feel secure when being cared for by me."

Recognizing the efforts of young people

The 2025 "Honoring Valedictorians" program selected and honored 88 valedictorians (46/88 are female). Of these, 40 valedictorians passed the entrance exam and 48 valedictorians graduated from Universities, Colleges, Academies, and Junior Colleges in Ho Chi Minh City. Each honored person received a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and cash.

Specifically, with 40 valedictorians passing the entrance exam, they all achieved an admission score of 26 points or higher (25 points or higher for college students). In particular, there are 2 valedictorians with a perfect score of 30 points (excluding priority points), 23 valedictorians who achieved high results in excellent student exams and subject Olympic exams at all levels; 8 students are exemplary students, 3-good students of the school and the city; many students actively participate in Union activities at high schools and social activities in their residential areas.

The Organizing Committee awarded certificates of merit and honored the valedictorians of 2025.

Among the 48 valedictorians, there are 40 bachelors who graduated with distinction, 27 valedictorians who are Youth Union - Association officials from the level of Branch Secretary, Branch President or higher, some of them are Standing members of the Youth Union - Association Hall; 33 bachelors who have won the "5 Good Students" award at all levels or the January Star award; many valedictorians have participated in international student exchange programs, participated in scientific articles, international student forums...

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, praised the achievements of the valedictorians and said: "Ho Chi Minh City leaders always expect that the generation of students in the city will continue to become a pioneering force, an elite team participating in implementing socio-economic development goals, especially in the fields of science and technology and digital transformation".

2025 is the 12th consecutive year that the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center have organized the "Honoring Valedictorians" program. To date, the program has honored 957 new students and new graduates as valedictorians. Of these, 467 were admitted valedictorians and 490 were graduated valedictorians.
