Honda began overseas motorcycle production at its first plant in Belgium in 1963. Since then, we have steadily expanded our production scale globally, pursuing a consistent philosophy of “Making production where our customers are.” As a result, Honda has achieved many successes with impressive milestones: 100 million units in 1997, 200 million units in 2008, and 300 million units in 2014. By 2018, annual production exceeded 20 million units for the first time, and global total production reached 400 million units in 2019. Although motorcycle production temporarily declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, demand has since recovered steadily and returned to pre-pandemic levels. In addition to internal combustion engine vehicles, 2024 is marked by Honda as an important starting point in Honda's global expansion strategy for electric motorbikes - starting with the introduction of many new electric vehicle models, aiming to diversify the product portfolio.

Honda currently offers a wide range of products, from popular models for daily commuting to large-displacement vehicles for recreational use, as well as electric vehicles. Honda has a production capacity of over 20 million vehicles per year, with 37 manufacturing plants in 23 countries and regions, and serves customers through a network of over 30,000 dealers worldwide .

Honda will continue to work to strengthen its motorcycle business by providing attractive products and services through a diversified approach, realizing “the joy and freedom of mobility” for a wider range of customers, and building a highly efficient business structure and moving toward carbon neutrality – including electrification.

Mr. Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President and CEO, HondaMotor Co., Ltd., shared:

“For Honda, motorcycles are what our founder started with and will always be our core business. Throughout our journey, we have built trust with our customers through a wide range of products and services, which has enabled us to achieve 500 million units of production globally. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our customers and partners – from development and manufacturing to sales and service – who have supported us in achieving this milestone. Honda will continue to challenge ourselves in an effort to expand the joy of our customers around the world.”

Honda Vietnam : As one of the strategic links in the global production network, Honda Vietnam (HVN) is proud to contribute significantly to the historical milestone of 500 million motorcycles produced worldwide, with nearly 40 million units produced in Vietnam. This achievement is the result of nearly 30 years of persistent efforts, innovation and commitment to continuously improve product quality.

In the coming time, HVN will continue to accompany the sustainable development strategy - a journey that the entire Honda Vietnam team is always proud to directly contribute to realizing the long-term goals and visions of the Vietnamese Government as well as Honda Group on a global scale. HVN will continuously expand and diversify its product portfolio, promoting technological innovation for vehicles using internal combustion engines. In parallel with the electric vehicle models that have been launched, HVN will continue to promote the development of a variety of environmentally friendly electric vehicles. These efforts are not only to meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers, but also demonstrate HVN's strong commitment to the goal of Carbon Neutrality, contributing to building a green, sustainable future for the community and future generations of Vietnam.
