Honda has confirmed that it will introduce the 2026 StepWGN 7-seat MPV at the Thailand International Motor Expo on November 28. This is the first time in more than a decade that this family car has returned to the Thai market as a complete import from Japan. StepWGN belongs to the mid-size MPV segment, currently in its 6th generation. The exterior design is simple and square, completely eliminating the unique "Waku Waku Gate" side door opening style that appeared on the previous generation. The horizontal and low glass door system significantly improves visibility for passengers.
The interior of the car is arranged in a 2-2-3 7-seat configuration, with the middle row being two separate business seats, with footrests and flexible sliding ability. The third row of seats can be folded flat to the floor to expand the luggage compartment, serving the diverse needs of families or high-end services. In Indonesia, the Honda StepWGN is being sold for around 629 million rupiah (equivalent to 1.221 million baht or 988 million VND). If this price is kept in Thailand, the Honda MPV will have a big competitive advantage over the Nissan Serena e-Power – currently listed at 1.69 million baht.
In the Thai market, Honda's new 2026 StepWGN MPV model will be distributed with the sole configuration of the e:HEV hybrid powertrain, similar to the version launched in Indonesia. The car uses an electric motor with a capacity of 184 horsepower, torque of 315 Nm, combined with a 2.0L gasoline engine with a capacity of 145 horsepower. The gasoline engine acts as a generator and supports high-speed driving through a mechanical clutch system, optimizing performance and fuel consumption.
The return of StepWGN in Thailand is not only a strategic move by Honda to expand its hybrid vehicle portfolio in Southeast Asia, but also reflects the strong consumer trend shifting towards fuel-efficient, comfortable and environmentally friendly models in the family MPV segment.
