Honda has confirmed it will introduce the 2026 StepWGN 7-seater MPV at the Motor Expo Thailand on November 28th. This marks the first time in over a decade that this family vehicle has returned to the Thai market as a fully imported unit from Japan. The StepWGN belongs to the mid-size MPV segment and is currently in its 6th generation. The exterior design is simple and boxy, completely eliminating the unique "Waku Waku Gate" side-opening doors that appeared on previous generations. The horizontally positioned, low-mounted windows significantly improve passenger visibility.
The car's interior is arranged in a 7-seat configuration (2-2-3), with the middle row consisting of two separate business-class seats, complete with footrests and flexible sliding capabilities. The third row can be folded flat to the floor to expand the luggage compartment, serving diverse needs for families or high-end services.
In Indonesia, the Honda StepWGN is currently being sold for approximately 629 million rupiah (equivalent to 1.221 million baht or 988 million VND). If this price remains the same in Thailand, Honda's MPV will have a significant competitive advantage over the Nissan Serena e-Power, which is currently listed at 1.69 million baht.
In the Thai market, Honda's new 2026 StepWGN MPV will be distributed with a single configuration: the e:HEV hybrid powertrain, similar to the version already launched in Indonesia. The vehicle uses an electric motor with 184 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, combined with a 2.0L gasoline engine producing 145 horsepower. The gasoline engine acts as a generator and assists with high-speed propulsion via a mechanical clutch system, optimizing performance and fuel consumption.
The return of StepWGN to Thailand is not only a strategic move by Honda to expand its hybrid vehicle portfolio in Southeast Asia, but also reflects the strong shift in consumer trends towards fuel-efficient, comfortable, and environmentally friendly models in the family MPV segment.
