Hong Gia Thanh enters the case

Gia Thanh persimmons are a seedless variety, with large, greenish-yellow fruits that are plump and round when ripe. When cut in half, the core of a Gia Thanh persimmon is star-shaped, crunchy, and intensely sweet. This year, thanks to favorable weather and proper cultivation techniques, Gia Thanh persimmons have thrived, yielding a bountiful harvest in terms of both productivity and quality, with more uniform and beautiful fruits compared to last year.

The harvest season for Gia Thanh persimmons runs from mid-August to mid-September each year. During this time, the roads are bustling with vehicles coming and going to buy persimmons before distributing them to various places within and outside the province. Currently, traders have already placed orders with the orchards.

Currently, Gia Thanh commune has 265 hectares of land planted with seedless persimmons, of which nearly 80 hectares are already producing fruit, with an estimated yield of over 500 tons, a 50% increase compared to the previous year. Recognizing the high economic efficiency of seedless persimmon cultivation, contributing to increased income and sustainable poverty reduction, the Party Committee and government of Gia Thanh commune annually include seedless persimmon cultivation in their thematic resolutions on local economic development. In 2020, Gia Thanh seedless persimmons officially completed product safety certification and obtained their own label. To date, Gia Thanh persimmons have achieved OCOP 4-star standard.

In order to preserve and develop the Gia Thanh persimmon specialty brand, over the years, the People's Committee of Phu Ninh district has built a model for planting and intensively cultivating Gia Thanh persimmons on hilly, less productive land. They have organized training on planting and caring for persimmon trees, and simultaneously developed policies to support the price of seedlings and care techniques for farmers who are planting new trees on a large scale.

In addition, continue to select superior rose varieties and parent plants, and develop policies to preserve and protect them as a long-term source of seedlings for production, especially distributing seedlings to other communes with suitable soil conditions to expand production...

Besides Gia Thanh commune, other communes with large persimmon growing areas include Tri Quan, Bao Thanh, Lien Hoa, Phu Loc, etc. In 2024, the total persimmon production of Gia Thanh in Phu Ninh district is estimated at about 2,000 tons. The price ranges from 35,000 to 55,000 VND/kg depending on weight and appearance, an increase of about 30-40% compared to 2023.
