Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tinh, Vice Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the province, reported on the results of the Association's work during the first six months of the year.
In the last six months of the year, the Association will continue to mobilize social resources to complete the plan to support the construction of 368 houses for victims of Agent Orange; at the same time, it will organize activities to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam. Inspection, professional training, and improving the effectiveness of the Association's activities at the grassroots level will also be strengthened.
At the conference, many opinions reflected the difficulties faced by grassroots organizations, especially limited operating funds, inadequate facilities, and an unstable staff following the restructuring and consolidation of the organization.
Ms. Truong Quyet Liet, Chairwoman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Bac Lieu Ward, highlighted the difficulties in the operation process, such as limited funding, the Association still lacking a headquarters, and insufficient personnel to meet the requirements of the tasks.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province, requested: “All levels of the Association should promptly finalize their operational regulations after the congress; proactively develop work plans for 2027; closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province in mobilizing resources to support housing for victims and promote social welfare activities. At the same time, they should carefully prepare the conditions to successfully organize activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam.”
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ganh Hao commune, highlighted the difficulties regarding operating funds and the limitations in mobilizing resources to care for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi also shared the difficulties faced by the Association and expressed his hope that all levels of the Association would continue to innovate the content and methods of their activities, strengthen the mobilization of social resources to better care for the material and spiritual lives of Agent Orange victims, contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion and effectively implementing social welfare work in the province.
