Previously, according to a report from the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard, on October 28, in an area approximately 22 nautical miles south of Len Dao Island, Truong Sa Special Zone (Khanh Hoa Province), a fisherman named Dang Van Tan (born in 1972, residing in Hoai Nhon Dong, Gia Lai Province) fell into the sea and went missing on fishing vessel BD 98387 TS.
Upon receiving the report, the Border Guard Command directed the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command to quickly coordinate with other forces and vessels operating near the area to urgently organize search and rescue operations, while simultaneously reporting to the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee for guidance and action.

The Office of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requested the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center to issue a maritime notice and coordinate with relevant agencies and localities to mobilize vessels and forces to participate in the search.
The Civil Defense Commands of Gia Lai, Dak Lak , and Khanh Hoa provinces, and the General Staff of the Border Guard Command, directed relevant agencies to coordinate with the ship owner and mobilize all available vessels operating near the area where the victims were located to assist in the search.
The General Staff of the Vietnam Navy and the Vietnam Coast Guard have instructed their units operating near the area to prepare plans to assist in the search for the missing person.
At the scene, five fishing vessels operating within 5-10 nautical miles of the accident site organized a search for the missing fisherman.
To date, search efforts are still being actively carried out by the relevant forces.
