Currently, two leading retail chains in this Middle Eastern country have expressed their commitment to consuming Indonesian rice.

According to Mr. Rizal, this information was confirmed after a recent market survey in Saudi Arabia conducted by Bulog in preparation for rice exports for the Hajj pilgrimage. Two major retail groups, BinDawood and Lulu, have confirmed their readiness to distribute Indonesian rice through their modern supermarket systems.
Director Bulog said that retail businesses in Saudi Arabia are particularly interested in Indonesian rice due to the large Indonesian community in the country, along with the large number of Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia who come annually. It is estimated that nearly 2 million Indonesians participate in the Umrah pilgrimage each year.
Mr. Rizal stated that, initially, Indonesia will focus on exporting rice to meet the needs of Hajj pilgrims, then expand to the Umrah market and domestic consumption in Saudi Arabia. According to the plan, Indonesia will export approximately 2,280 tons of rice to this Middle Eastern country this year; deliveries are expected to begin in March 2026.
According to Bulog, the exported rice is high-quality rice that meets the standards set by the Saudi Arabian government and the importers.
The head of Bulog emphasized that exporting rice to the Middle Eastern market not only reflects Indonesia's increasingly improved food production capacity, but also aligns with the archipelago nation's long-term goal of achieving food self-sufficiency and deeper integration into the global rice supply chain in the coming years.
