According to GSMArena , Jeff Pu suggests that the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, will be equipped with the A18 chip. This is a far cry from this year's lineup, where the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus only came with the A16 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max both featured the A17 Pro chip.
Will the Apple "A18" chip power all iPhone models next year?
Many might think Apple would stop making the chip one of the reasons customers buy the Pro line, but that's not the case. Although all four models will use the A18 chip next year, it seems they won't be the same, as the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are rumored to come with the A18 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have the more powerful A18 Pro chip.
Essentially, Apple chose to rebrand its chip lines to create the illusion that regular iPhones have the same hardware as the Pro variants.
It is currently unclear what the differences will be between the A18 and A17 Pro, however it appears that the A18 will be manufactured by TSMC using the second-generation 3nm process (N3E), which is cheaper and more efficient than the N3B process that TSMC used to manufacture the A17 Pro.
