MediaTek aims to accelerate 5G development in Vietnam.

According to Finbarr Moynihan, Vice President of Marketing at MediaTek, the company has experienced strong revenue growth, increasing from approximately $8 billion in 2019 to more than double that amount at an impressive $18.5 billion in 2022. In 2022, the mobile phone segment accounted for approximately 54% of MediaTek's revenue. The Smart Edge Platforms segment – ​​encompassing all other multimedia and connectivity platforms offered by MediaTek, such as smart TVs, smart speakers, smart homes, tablets, Chromebooks, etc. – accounted for approximately 39%.

A representative from MediaTek shared the achievements the company has made recently.

In terms of mobile market share, MediaTek continued to hold the top position as the leading mobile chipset supplier in 2021 and 2022, according to data from analytics firm IDC. Despite the semiconductor industry experiencing supply chain issues during 2021, MediaTek performed very well in managing user demand and supply, maintaining a market share of 41-42%.

For the purpose of 5G development, MediaTek has worked with all major network operators in Vietnam, helping to bring devices to individual consumers, including network operators such as VNPT, Viettel,FPT , etc. MediaTek supports connecting network operators with their customers to ensure the best products are delivered to the market, while also supporting network operators with research and development capabilities like VNPT and Viettel in producing "Make in Vietnam" devices.

One of its biggest products is Wi-Fi routers, with MediaTek selling millions of these products annually. Currently, MediaTek is also strongly supporting the transition from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6 and 7 in the future. Simultaneously, MediaTek is supporting the commercialization of 5G in Vietnam, with 5G CPE products and other 5G products soon reaching consumers.

MediaTek showcased several technological solutions.

The push for 5G also involves 5G modems that MediaTek integrates into the chips used in smartphones. Equipping mid-range smartphones with 5G chips will also be a key focus of MediaTek's development in the near future.

Several recently launched devices on the market use MediaTek chipsets, such as the vivo X90, vivo X90 Pro, and Oppo Find X6, which are equipped with the Dimensity 9200 chip. Additionally, foldable phones like the Oppo Find N2 Flip and Tecno Phantom V Fold are equipped with the more advanced Dimensity 9000+ chip.
