Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max loses 'most expensive' title

The orange iPhone 17 Pro Max was initially sought after, but is now not as expensive as the silver version - with the actual purchase price possibly 10 million VND higher than the listed price.

At a store on Su Van Hanh Street ( Ho Chi Minh City) on the afternoon of September 22, the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 256 GB of orange memory was priced at 45 million VND. If choosing silver, buyers were asked to spend 46-48 million VND.

The situation is similar with the 512 GB version. The orange model is priced at 50 million VND, while the silver one is up to 54 million VND. Meanwhile, the listed prices of these two memory versions in Vietnam are 38 and 44.5 million VND respectively.

"Users have to spend more than 5-8 million VND to own the orange color, and can go up to 10 million VND for the silver color. The price changes constantly depending on the source of goods, the difference is high but there is not enough goods to sell," said Tuan Thanh, the store owner.

Similarly, Minh Hai, the owner of a phone store in Hanoi , confirmed the price increase of the silver iPhone 17 Pro Max. Here, the silver 512 GB version is sold for 3-4 million VND higher than the orange one. "The price is high but at least there is still a phone, while the silver 256 GB version is almost out of stock," he said.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max series were introduced in three colors: orange, silver and blue. Similar to previous years, the new color is often the most interested model. This year, orange attracted users before the sale. For example, the ShopDunk system said that about 85% of people ordered the iPhone 17 Pro Max on the first day of buying orange. In some other systems, the rate of choosing this version was also over 60%.

However, after three days of opening, the silver version is considered by many stores to be "more difficult to buy than the orange one". According to Tuan Thanh, the level of interest in the orange and silver versions is high, accounting for 90% of the store's customers in recent days. "The silver version has a smaller supply, leading to scarcity and a higher price," he explained.

In addition to its scarcity, silver is also attractive because it is considered more suitable for the majority. This year, for the first time, Apple brought orange - considered relatively bright and outstanding - to a high-end model. "Some people really like orange, but many people do not choose it. Silver has been around for many years, is luxurious enough and easy to combine with accessories," said the owner of a phone store in Cau Giay (Hanoi). "Some images online of the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max with obvious scratches also make users consider it more."

This year's iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo have changed dramatically in appearance with a large camera cluster, using an aluminum shell, which is introduced to increase heat dissipation and improve durability. The device opened for pre-order in Vietnam from September 12 and was delivered to users a week later. Right from the opening of sale, the 256 GB orange version "sold out" in just a few minutes, then the silver version fell into a similar situation, while the blue color received little attention.
