The first leaked images of the trio of iPhone 18 models – the Pro, Pro Max, and especially the foldable iPhone 18 Ultra – have just appeared. However, Apple's most expensive flagship in history has generated more controversy than expectations.

According to leaked CAD (computer-aided design) drawings from the supply chain, Apple's first foldable iPhone will be called the iPhone 18 Ultra. Despite being positioned in the ultra-premium segment, the Ultra model surprisingly only features a dual-camera setup. This is a rather puzzling move by Apple, especially considering that the Pro models have long featured triple-lens cameras.
The next shocking detail is the disappearance of MagSafe. On the prototype, Apple's signature magnetic ring is completely absent. Is Apple developing a new charging technology for foldable phones, or has optimizing for a thinner design forced them to sacrifice this feature?
iPhone 18 Pro Max: More protruding and thicker
While the Ultra model aimed for a breakthrough in design, the iPhone 18 Pro Max opted for an upgrade in hardware power. At first glance, the design doesn't differ much from its predecessor, but the camera module has become significantly thicker.

Measurements show that the total thickness of the iPhone 18 Pro Max (including the lens) is 13.77 mm, a significant increase from the 12.92 mm of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It seems Apple is striving to fit larger optical sensors inside, despite the increasingly bulky design of the device.
A formidable competitor to the iPad mini.
When fully unfolded, the iPhone Ultra displays a vast screen area. With a screen width equivalent to the length of a Pro Max and ultra-thin bezels, the iPhone Ultra has a usable screen area nearly comparable to the iPad mini. This promises to be Apple's most ideal '2-in-1' device to date.
