Recently, the blog account "yeux1122" revealed that Apple may be in the final stages of selecting a primary supplier for its foldable display technology.
Accordingly, potential suppliers need to ensure criteria regarding thickness, size, and curvature radius, while also requiring significant improvements in durability and creasing resistance on the screen.
Several manufacturers have made progress toward meeting Apple's requirements. The supplier selection process is expected to conclude between the end of February and the beginning of April.

Although the report doesn't specify which device the screen is for, based on the development timeline, it could be a foldable iPhone.
Previously, the patent "Durable Foldable Display Electronic Device" described a solution to the durability issue of foldable screens, potentially paving the way for the early release of a foldable iPhone.
According to the description, foldable screens increase durability by making the glass thinner at the folding end and thicker at other points to protect the screen from impacts.
The display will consist of two parts: a protective coating and a flexible display panel. The panel can bend around its axis, while the coating is made from a layer of glass with a thin, beveled edge forming a groove that extends along the bending axis.
Reportedly, the two foldable iPhone prototypes have internal screen sizes of 7.9 and 8.3 inches, making them larger than the Galaxy Z Fold5 with its 7.6-inch screen. With these dimensions, the iPhone will likely have a book-like folding design instead of the clamshell folding design previously rumored.
Previously, Apple was granted a patent titled "Electronic devices with flexible display casings," claiming that the company had found a method of mixing rigid and flexible areas for the display so that it could self-heal.
It is known that this flexible layer may include an elastic layer, and this is the self-healing element. The elastic material can stretch but can return to its original shape on its own (similar to the mattress material used in homes).
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple will introduce two foldable MacBook models, a 20.3-inch and an 18.8-inch, first, with over 1 million units shipped by 2026. The foldable display panel will cost $650, and the hinge will cost $250. LG Display is the exclusive partner for the panel development, while Amphenol is responsible for the hinge.
