Why do many people still choose the MacBook Air M2 instead of upgrading to a newer model?

Receiving long-term support would be very impressive, especially since these computers still perform well for needs like web browsing, video calling, photo editing, and office work. Although the recently launched MacBook Neo offers a new processor, it's not as powerful as the M5 chip in newer MacBook models. Therefore, the likelihood of Apple discontinuing support for the MacBook Air M2 anytime soon is very low.

If you just need a lightweight, fast, and useful laptop, the MacBook Air M2 is still a good option in 2026. Upgrading to newer models like the MacBook Air M4 or M5 is only really necessary if you want more powerful configurations, such as more RAM or higher storage capacity. For tasks requiring significant GPU power, such as heavy video editing or working with 3D graphics, upgrading to a MacBook Pro might be a more sensible choice.
