Baghaei made the statement in a telephone interview with Iranian state television (IRIB) , after US President Donald Trump publicly outlined the conditions for reaching an agreement with Iran and indicated he would soon make a decision.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tehran's current priority in the negotiations is "ending the conflict."
Mr. Baghaei emphasized that, at present, the two sides have not discussed in detail issues related to Iran's uranium enrichment program or the amount of enriched uranium.
Regarding the possibility of reopening shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei affirmed that managing this strategic route "only concerns Iran and Oman."
Earlier that day, in a social media post, President Trump outlined Washington's demands on Tehran, emphasizing that Iran must commit to never possessing nuclear weapons.
The US President also declared that the Strait of Hormuz must be immediately opened to unrestricted navigation in both directions, and demanded the removal of all mines, if any. The leader stated that Washington's naval blockade would be lifted.
Additionally, President Trump stated that Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles would be inspected, seized, and destroyed by the US in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He also affirmed that no funds would be transferred at this stage, a move believed to be related to Iran's frozen assets and financial compensation claims from Tehran.
In recent weeks, Tehran and Washington have used Pakistan as a mediator to exchange various proposals on the conditions for ending the conflict. According to international media, the two sides are now working to finalize a joint memorandum of understanding to serve as the basis for a future agreement.
