However, with the rebranding of Cowin to Kaiyi, the company aims to appeal to a wider audience. To achieve that, Kaiyi has introduced a variety of new vehicles in its range, including ICE and EV lines, SUVs and mini cars.

Even for a major Chinese automaker, this is a pretty ambitious plan, and Kaiyi is well on its way to achieving its dream, having launched a new ICE SUV called the new Kaiyi Kunlun 2023, with prices ranging from 99,900 yuan to 149,900 yuan (equivalent to 341 million VND to 512 million VND).

In addition, Kaiyi also announced the simultaneous pre-sale of three PHEV versions of the Kunlun car with prices ranging from 159,900 yuan to 239,900 yuan (equivalent to 546 million to 819 million VND). The distribution of the PHEV variant will begin in the fourth quarter, the new car is built on the i-FA platform.

In terms of size, the cheap 2023 Kaiyi Kunlun model has measurements including length, width and height of 4,738 x 1,968 x 1,708 mm respectively and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, slightly larger than the Chery Tiggo 8. If you don't like having too many seats and increasing luggage compartment space, you can choose to buy the 5-seat Kaiyi Kunlun in addition to the 7-seat version.

The highlight of the car is inside the cockpit, where the interior has a super large and slightly lower central control screen, the infotainment system is equipped with Huawei Hicar and Tencent TAI 4.0, combined with an intelligent voice command system. The new car can now achieve L2 autonomous driving support and can be upgraded via OTA.

The gasoline version of Kaiyi Kunlun is equipped with 1.6T and 2.0T engines, the same as Tiggo 8. The plug-in hybrid version offers 2 single-motor and dual-motor versions. The maximum power of the single-motor version is 201 horsepower and the power of the dual-motor version is 362 horsepower, with all-electric driving ranges of 110 km, 180 km and 260 km respectively.

The Kaiyi Kunlun and Tiggo 8 models share the same electrical system and similar configuration. The only advantage of the Kaiyi Kunlun is its larger body size and wheelbase, and the availability of 5/7-seat versions. For some consumers, the price difference will be more attractive.

Kaiyi Auto has six models, including Cowin V7, Cowin X3, X5, Cowin Xuandu and Cowin Xuanjie, all focusing on the segment below 100,000 yuan, equivalent to 341 million VND.

Compared to competitors, the above car models are inferior in design, configuration, quality and have not achieved good results in the market in the general trend of upgrading user experience, so whether Kunlun can help Kaiyi car company admit its mistakes and compensate or not must wait until the end of the year, when the car appears on the market.
