Sensational details such as the "Princess Huanzhu" star's involvement in human trafficking, online fraud, and concealing personal assets abroad garnered widespread public attention and traffic to media accounts. However, this also put Zhao Wei's reputation in a precarious position.
Zhao Wei's brother filed a lawsuit on her behalf against the social media accounts and the company behind them. After the trial, the two sides reached a settlement. Specifically, the defendant, Ju Ri Sheng Company, had to send a written apology to Zhao Wei, post it on social media, and pin it for at least 10 days. The defendant was also ordered to pay a total of 20,000 RMB in compensation and 300 RMB in court fees.
Previously, numerous posts appeared on the social media platform Weibo claiming that Huang Youlong and Zhao Wei, along with MC Li Xiang, were all part of the same money laundering ring, involved in illegal business activities, and connected to kidnapping and trafficking people to fraudulent areas in Myanmar.
Articles question the wealth accumulation process of businessman Huynh Huu Long, Zhao Wei's ex-husband, given the unclear nature of his business activities. Furthermore, they claim that Zhao Wei's alcohol business and overseas real estate purchases constitute money laundering, an attempt to conceal the source of illicit funds. On the other hand, Zhao Wei and her ex-husband are listed as owners of numerous shell companies that are essentially inactive, used to legitimize enormous profits from illegal activities.
Page 163 reported that Huỳnh Hữu Long, Zhao Wei's ex-husband, has a cousin named Xa Khải Luân with a serious criminal record. He was arrested for gambling in his hometown, then went abroad to do business and became involved in a ring that lured Chinese people to Thailand and Myanmar, sold them to detention camps, and trained them to make fraudulent telecommunications calls, earning billions of USD annually. There is information that Xa Khải Luân was arrested by Thai police in 2022.
Chinese media reported that Huang Youlong was also involved in telecommunications fraud cases in Myanmar. After their marriage, Zhao Wei knew about her husband's business but did not stop him; instead, she invested in it with him.
However, Zhao Wei's brother, Zhao Jian, asserted that the articles were deliberately targeting the actress and contained inaccurate information. Because Zhao Wei is a star, she is easily hurt and vulnerable to rumors. Zhao Jian stated that they have filed complaints and lawsuits in Beijing and Shanghai.
Zhao Wei was unexpectedly banned from broadcasting in August 2021, after which many negative news stories about her broke out, attempting to explain the reason for the actress's blacklisting.
On December 28, 2024, Zhao Wei announced that she had divorced her husband, businessman Huang Youlong, several years prior. The actress stated that she no longer had any contact with her ex-husband and therefore did not want to get involved in Huang Youlong's financial troubles.
