Investment connection - creating a runway for Hai Phong's creative startup ecosystem

Within the framework of Techfest Hai Phong 2025, the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Hai Phong organized an investment connection event for innovative startups, gathering hundreds of delegates from venture capital funds, technology enterprises, research institutes, universities, and many potential startups.

This is one of the key activities of Techfest Hai Phong 2025, marking a new step forward in the effort to turn Hai Phong into a dynamic innovation center, effectively connecting the state - businesses - investors.

More than just a playground, Techfest Hai Phong 2025 has truly become a "runway" for potential startup ideas. At the investment connection event, startups can directly present their ideas, products and business models to domestic and international investment funds, and receive feedback and development strategy advice from industry experts.

The "1-on-1 connection" sessions between startups and investment funds took place enthusiastically, focusing on areas that are leading technology trends such as artificial intelligence (AI), marine technology, logistics, green energy, smart agriculture and digital transformation. This is an opportunity for businesses to access quality capital flows, while helping investors grasp new technology trends early and position long-term investment strategies.

According to experts, the model of connecting investment with innovation not only helps startups perfect their products and expand their markets, but also contributes to enhancing the capacity to absorb technology and spread the culture of creative startups throughout society.

As the economic locomotive of the Northern Coastal region, Hai Phong is becoming the destination of a wave of high-tech investment. The city has achieved double-digit GRDP growth for 10 consecutive years, is in the top 3 localities with the largest economic scale in the country and ranked 4th nationwide in the Local Innovation Index (PII) in 2025.

In particular, the National Assembly's approval of Resolution 226 on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for Hai Phong's development has opened up a superior institutional space for innovation, including preferential policies specifically for start-up businesses, such as: Tax exemption and reduction in the first 5 years of operation; non-refundable support from the city budget; incentives on infrastructure and working space; controlled testing mechanism (sandbox) for new technology solutions; especially the orientation to establish a Venture Capital Fund of Hai Phong city.

These policies are considered a pioneering step, helping Hai Phong form an internationally competitive creative startup ecosystem, a convergence of financial resources, knowledge and technology.

A highlight of the event was the spirit of "Unlimited Creativity - Cooperation and Sharing", affirming the importance of the three-party linkage model: State - Enterprise - Investor. The city government's support in perfecting institutions, supporting infrastructure, and connecting innovation networks has created strong confidence for the startup community.

Along with that, the active participation of universities and research institutes helps to improve research and development (R&D) capacity, product incubation and commercialization. Many start-ups in Hai Phong have begun to form business models based on core technology, capable of reaching out to regional markets.

According to experts, it is this close connection that has created a complete innovation value chain, from research - development - commercialization to market expansion, contributing to increasing innovation efficiency and making Hai Phong a "bright spot" on the map of Vietnam's creative startups.

Techfest Hai Phong 2025 is not only an annual event but also a strong commitment of the city in implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo on developing science, technology and innovation. This is an important foundation for Hai Phong to aim to become a center of innovation, a center of high-quality human resources and high-tech production in the Northern region.
