Manchester United hosted Bodo/Glimt in the fifth matchday of the Europa League. This also marked the debut of new head coach Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. After the opening whistle, Man Utd proactively pushed forward and quickly achieved their goal. In the very first minute, Rasmus Hojlund's effort caused goalkeeper Haikin to make a mistake, and Garnacho easily tapped the ball into the empty net to open the scoring.
Unwilling to accept defeat, Bodo/Glimt were determined to play an attacking game. In reality, Man Utd still controlled the match. The duo of Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte played flexibly, powerfully, and controlled the midfield well. They hadn't created any truly dangerous chances, but few believed Man Utd could struggle.
Man Utd won a hard-fought match against Bodo/Glimt.
But once again, a lack of concentration in defense cost the Red Devils dearly. In the 19th minute, Hakon Evjen scored a beautiful goal from outside the box to equalize 1-1 for Bodo/Glimt. Not stopping there, just 4 minutes later, Patrick Berg delivered a superb pass to Zinckernagel, who beat Tyrell Malacia and fired a powerful shot to put Man Utd ahead 2-1. Unexpectedly trailing, Man Utd struggled to break down the opposition's defense.
They struggled to control the ball but couldn't break through the crowded Norwegian defense. Just when many were anticipating an unfavorable result before halftime for the home team, Rasmus Hojlund stepped up. In the 45th minute, Marzaoui's superb ball control and assist set up Hojlund for a delicate finish, securing a 2-2 draw for Man Utd.
In the second half, Man Utd quickly took the lead. Following a skillful backheel pass from Mason Mount, Ugarte penetrated the penalty area and crossed the ball for Hojlund to score, making the score 3-2.
Having shed their psychological pressure, Man Utd played very well and constantly troubled the opposing defense. However, this was a half where Garnacho played very poorly. He mishandled the ball many times despite receiving good passes from his teammates. In both instances where he faced Haikin, the Argentinian striker missed his chances.
Towards the end of the match, Bodo/Glimt rallied and had a chance to score, but Andre Onana made an excellent save. Man Utd finished the game with a 3-2 victory, and manager Amorim had a good start at home.
