
The meeting, held on May 27th at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (USA), aimed to share information on the current situation in Cuba, amidst the tightening of sanctions and embargoes against Cuba.
Speaking at the meeting, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla expressed his appreciation for the solidarity and support of the Non-Aligned Movement member states for Cuba, providing an update on the serious impact of the blockade and embargo measures, especially those targeting energy supplies. According to Mr. Parrilla, these measures are causing significant difficulties for the socio-economic situation and the lives of the Cuban people, particularly in essential areas such as energy, food, and healthcare.
At the meeting, the participating countries shared deep sympathy for the challenges facing the Cuban people. Vietnam affirmed its commitment to continued cooperation and support in food security, agricultural development, and renewable energy, aiming to help alleviate the difficulties faced by the Cuban people.
According to VNA, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, emphasized that Vietnam opposes unilateral measures targeting Cuba, considering them actions contrary to the fundamental principles of international law. Vietnam opposes any actions that threaten or use force against Cuba and stressed that dialogue is the only correct and sustainable path to resolving differences, avoiding increased tension and instability for regional and international peace and security. Vietnam calls on member states of the Non-Aligned Movement to continue to stand united and strongly oppose the blockade and embargo against Cuba.
