Remembering Uncle Ho's teachings, we unite for development.

(GLO) - Following the instructions of President Ho Chi Minh in his letter to the Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Southern Vietnam at Pleiku in 1946, the people of Gia Lai province have continuously upheld the tradition of solidarity, working together to build their homeland and country.

Thanks to the Party, thanks to Uncle Ho.

Mr. Ksor Phuoc - former member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, former Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council, former Minister and Head of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities, and former Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee - has consistently followed the development of ethnic minority communities throughout the country.

At the end of April 2026, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province organized a seminar to commemorate the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's letter to the Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Southern Vietnam at Pleiku (1946 - 2026) and to meet with and commend exemplary influential figures among ethnic minorities. Attending the seminar, Mr. Ksor Phuoc shared his observations from numerous field trips over the past nearly 10 years – since his retirement.

“In Gia Lai and Kon Tum (formerly), I have visited many villages of ethnic minorities such as the Jrai, Bana, Xe Dang, Gie Trieng, and Brau, including revolutionary base areas and seven border communes. Most of the places I visited had roads accessible by car; all villages had electricity and internet access. But what pleased me most was that most of the people had significantly changed their mindset and production practices towards a market-oriented economy in farming and livestock raising…” – Mr. Ksor Phuoc expressed.

According to Mr. Ksor Phuoc, in these areas, ethnic minority communities have had their housing and clean water needs fundamentally addressed. In the cultural field, people have learned to combine preserving and promoting their ethnic cultural identity with the development of ecotourism; education in ethnic minority areas is being prioritized…

He remarked: “From 1976 to the present, under the leadership of the Party, with the care of the State and the internal strength and striving of the Vietnamese ethnic minorities themselves, the lives of the people have been progressing comprehensively and continuously along with the rest of the country (…). This reminds each of us to always remember the great contributions of Uncle Ho to the revolutionary cause of our Party, our people in general and to the ethnic minorities in particular…”.

The former Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council affirmed his belief: "Entering a new revolutionary stage, the Party committees, governments at all levels, and people of all ethnic groups in Gia Lai province will further strengthen unity and better implement the simple yet profound teachings of our beloved Uncle Ho."

Unity is especially important.

Speaking at a seminar commemorating the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's letter to the Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Southern Vietnam held in Pleiku, Comrade Pham Anh Tuan - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - affirmed: Today, in the new development space of Gia Lai province after the merger, with the second largest area in the country and a population of over 3.5 million people from 47 ethnic groups living together, the spirit of solidarity as taught by Uncle Ho is even more important. From the vast Central Highlands to the eastern coastal region, from the border to the islands, all are opening up new opportunities for the province to develop rapidly and sustainably.

The spirit of solidarity is not only a guiding principle in the province's development but also permeates deeply into every village and every family of ethnic minorities. Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, Mr. Rơ Châm Ét – a respected figure in Bua village (Ia Pnôn commune) – has transformed this into a spirit of community service. “I think President Ho Chi Minh's teachings are concise, but profoundly meaningful. He advised us to be united, to love each other, to work together to maintain peace in our villages, to work together, and to build a better life together,” he said.

Thanks to his efforts and the advocacy of other influential figures, the people of Bua village have worked hard, and their lives have improved day by day. In 2010, the village had 125 poor households, but now only 17 remain according to the new criteria; security and order in the border area have been maintained.

“Every day, looking at Uncle Ho’s picture hanging in my house, I remind myself to live right, live honestly, and think of the common good first. I also tell my children and grandchildren the same. Learning from Uncle Ho is not something far-fetched. Learning from him means living simply, honestly, loving our people and our village, and doing whatever good we can for the people,” Mr. Rơ Châm Ét shared emotionally.

Along with influential figures, many grassroots political and social organizations have adopted practical approaches to spread the learning and emulation of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings.

In February 2026, the Women's Union of Chư A Thai commune launched the "Communal House with a Picture of Uncle Ho" model in Plei Pông village, contributing to strengthening national unity. Members participating in the model also received pictures of Uncle Ho to display respectfully in their homes.

Ms. Dinh Djon, Vice Chairwoman of the Women's Association in Plei Pong village, said: "Adults look at the photos to learn from and follow Uncle Ho's example every day, working diligently, spending frugally, and developing their family's economy. Children also look at the photos to remember Uncle Ho's five teachings, striving to study hard to become good children and excellent students."
