On the evening of June 2nd, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2023, with the message " A world without boundaries," officially opened with a competition between the host team Da Nang (Vietnam) and the reigning DIFF 2019 champion, Finland.
With the theme "Peace for Humanity," the opening night of DIFF 2023, spanning five nights of fireworks from June 2nd to July 8th, 2023, painted a vibrant picture of friendship, solidarity, and peace, taking the audience on a sublime journey through masterpieces of light, music , and art.
Attending the opening ceremony were former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Central Committee member and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; and Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.
Representing Da Nang City were: Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City, Nguyen Van Quang; Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People's Council, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee, Le Trung Chinh; Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee of DIFF 2023, Ngo Thi Kim Yen; along with international guests, leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, central ministries and agencies, and localities.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh expressed that the success of previous Da Nang International Fireworks Festivals has affirmed the attractiveness of DIFF to the people of the city as well as domestic and international tourists.
This is a source of pride for Da Nang, but it is also a challenge for the city to continuously strive to improve the quality of organization and performances, aiming to build the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival brand to increasingly live up to everyone's expectations.
“This year’s DIFF is a special festival because we and you have waited a long time – after a three-year hiatus – to be able to enjoy memorable moments together tonight, by the Han River.”
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the world to a standstill, distancing us all. Therefore, we hope that DIFF 2023, with its overarching theme "A World Without Borders," will be a bridge to break down all barriers, allowing everyone to enjoy artistic values and cultural beauty together, and to strive towards the aspiration of peace and prosperity," Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh expressed.
With teams from the United Kingdom, Poland, Canada, France, Finland, Australia, Italy, and Vietnam competing under the themes of "Peace for Humanity," "Love Without Borders," "Conquering Dreams," and "Dance of Nature," DIFF 2023 was a gathering of representatives from countries with long-standing traditions in the art of fireworks display.
Together, they will tell stories through light, music, and the sublime interplay of art and emotion, promising to deliver unforgettable surprises and impressions.
In addition, accompanying events, which are invested in on a large scale and have attractive content, will add color and create new and unique experiences for locals and tourists throughout the festival.
