Opening Ceremony of the World Children's Day 2026

On the evening of May 29th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism solemnly organized the opening ceremony of the "27th World Children's Day - 2026".

Deputy Minister of Culture , Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong delivered the opening speech at the festival.

Attending and speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture , Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said: “ The World Children's Day is a meaningful annual cultural activity directed by the Ministry of Culture , Sports and Tourism for many years, becoming a familiar meeting place for children every summer. Through its various editions, the Day has not only been a beneficial cultural and artistic playground but also a place for children to interact, experience, explore , and develop their creativity in a healthy, friendly, and humane environment.”

According to the Deputy Minister, the festival is also an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the role of culture and art in shaping the personality and developing the souls of young children. A healthy and humane cultural environment will be an important foundation for children's holistic development, enabling them to become knowledgeable, responsible citizens with patriotism and a desire to contribute to the country in the future.

  “Today’s children are the future of our country tomorrow. Caring for children is not only a responsibility but also an expression of affection, conscience, and a sacred duty of the entire society. I hope that, through this event, young people and children will have more joy, more enriching experiences, and beautiful childhood memories; and at the same time, continue to nurture their dreams, aspirations, learning spirit, and creativity to become good citizens, contributing to building a stronger, more civilized, and happier Vietnam,” Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized.

The 27th World Children's Day event took place from May 29th to June 1st with many rich and attractive activities such as: an exhibition of winning works and displays from the "National Children's Painting Competition and Exhibition 2025," showcasing typical drawings by children aged 5-15 participating in the "National Children's Painting Competition and Exhibition 2025."

The exhibition area includes information and consultation on child care, education, and protection; an introduction to the activities of the National Child Protection Hotline 111; live Q&A sessions on child protection online; and guidance on skills for caring for, educating, and protecting children.

The exhibition "Youth Responding to Climate Change" showcases exemplary, innovative, practical, and promising products, models, initiatives, and projects such as: disaster prevention, survival, and response skills for students; solar-powered insect traps; landslide and flood warning systems; biodegradable paper, etc.

The children's art exhibition " My Friend - My Imaginary Friend" is a place where children can showcase their talent and love of painting through whimsical and adorable drawings.

Alongside this is an exhibition area showcasing "Graduation projects of design graduates on children's themes" and a children's fashion collection.

In particular, at the festival, children will be guided by artisans to create beautiful products from traditional crafts such as pottery making, ceramic mosaic, stone mosaic , clay figurine making, folk painting, embroidery, rattan and bamboo weaving, bonsai art, making paintings from natural materials, making flowers from dó paper, weaving coconut leaves, making kites and flutes, scented candles, making recycled items from fabric scraps, making cloth dolls, painting hats, bamboo dragonflies, and making jewelry accessories; experience painting traditional theater masks, painting on bags and fabrics, coloring pictures, painting costumes for cartoon characters and being guided in flashmob dancing; participate in learning, thinking, creative and scientific games; receive fire safety training in "Being a Firefighter " and many cultural exchange programs and special art performances.

Children participate in experiential activities at the festival.

Through these activities, children will gain closer access to traditional national culture , handicrafts, historical values, the spirit of sharing, compassion, and a sense of responsibility towards the community. This will contribute positively to promoting the realization of children's rights, while also strengthening the attention and responsibility of Party committees , government agencies, ministries, and localities in the care, education, and protection of children.
