Opening of the 2024 Nho Quan District Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival

On the evening of March 1, at Cuc Phuong Commune Stadium, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nho Quan district held the opening ceremony of the "2024 Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Groups of Nho Quan district".

This is an annual event of the ethnic minorities of Nho Quan district, which has become a typical cultural and tourism product, bearing the unique identity of the mountainous district of Nho Quan. The opening ceremony was broadcast live on Ninh Binh Radio and Television.

Speaking at the opening of the Festival, Comrade Hoang Khac Tiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nho Quan district emphasized: As a mountainous district, located at the northwest gateway of Ninh Binh province, the convergence of 28 ethnic groups with a population of over 174 thousand people, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 17%. Nho Quan is referred to as an "ancient land", where many layers of cultural sediments with historical relics marking the appearance of humans more than 7,500 years ago, is the cradle of the revolutionary movement and possesses unique cultural heritage resources.

Many generations of ethnic minorities in the district have passed down and spread good traditional cultural values, including many valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritages such as festivals, traditional crafts, culinary dishes, performing arts such as Cheo singing, Dum singing, lullabies, Sac Bua singing, gongs and folk games of the Muong ethnic group have been preserved, maintained and developed.

Along with unique cultural values, Nho Quan is also endowed by nature with many famous landscapes and landscapes such as: Cuc Phuong National Park, Van Trinh Cave, But Cave - Thien Ha Cave, Dong Chuong Lake, Cuc Phuong mineral spring, mountains and systems of majestic and poetic caves, rivers and lakes associated with historical and traditional cultural values that are always preserved and developed. The advantages of nature, landscape, culture and history are important premises for Nho Quan to form and develop famous eco-tourism, resort and sports areas such as: Cuc Phuong resort, Vedana high-class eco-tourism area, Trang An Golf Course, Doi Ngang spiritual tourism area...

The Cultural and Sports Festival is an annual cultural event of ethnic minorities in Nho Quan district, aiming to create a healthy and useful playground, an opportunity for artisans, actors, and mass athletes to meet, exchange, and introduce the cultural quintessence of their ethnic groups and localities. This is also an opportunity for Nho Quan to promote and introduce cultural products and tourism products to domestic and international friends and tourists, contributing to preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development, thereby raising awareness of all levels, sectors and ethnic minorities in building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country.

Next is a special art program with the theme "Nho Quan - A place of convergence and spread" including 3 parts: Nho Quan in the festival; Nho Quan colors and Nho Quan - aspiration for development through the performances of artists: Mai Thuy, Le Minh Son... with artists, actors from art troupes inside and outside the province, members of art clubs of communes and towns in the district.

This year's Nho Quan District Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival is held for 3 days, from March 1 to March 3 at Cuc Phuong Commune Stadium. With the theme "Nho Quan - A place to gather and spread", the Festival has the participation of 11 delegations, with over 2,000 artisans, actors, and mass athletes from art and sports clubs in the whole district, promising to create a colorful cultural space, bringing spiritual values, spreading positive messages, and honoring the strength of national unity.
