From October 4 to October 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism organized the Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Program in the US in 2025, taking place in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

With two key events being the organization of a Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism booth at the IMEX America 2025 Fair and the organization of a seminar introducing Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism in Los Angeles.

The events aim to promote, connect, attract international visitors and investment, learn global tourism management and business experiences, and contribute to improving the position of Ho Chi Minh City tourism on the world map.

"IMEX America is one of the largest MICE (meetings, incentives, events) fairs in the world. Participating in the fair is of strategic significance to Ho Chi Minh City after its expansion, affirming its position and brand as a leading MICE destination in Southeast Asia, while positioning the city as an international gateway of Vietnam in the new appearance of a megacity" - said a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism.

The event is an opportunity for the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry to promote and attract more American tourists to Vietnam.

The US tourist market has always been considered to have great potential, and the demand for foreign travel among the people is quite high. The US is always the market with the largest number of tourists, along with tourism spending, among the top in the world.

According to statistics from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), among the 10 markets with the highest tourism spending in the world in 2024, the US is at the top, followed by China, Germany, the UK, France, Canada, Australia, Italy, Russia and South Korea. The US is the country with spending of over 281.7 billion USD (data from the US Department of Commerce).

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism hopes that promoting tourism in the US will help Ho Chi Minh City increase the number of high-quality, long-stay tourists.

Ms. Nguyen Minh Bao Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, said that the US tourist market is always one of the top priorities in Ho Chi Minh City's tourism promotion strategy.

This is the first foreign tourism promotion activity after Ho Chi Minh City merged Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, a welcome to the MICE business community and the high-end tourist segment.

According to estimates from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in the first 9 months of 2025, international tourist arrivals reached nearly 6 million; domestic tourist arrivals reached more than 29.2 million. The city's tourism industry's goal this year is to welcome 10 million international visitors.
