Experiential tourism grows strongly

In the cool weather and brilliant yellow of orange and grapefruit gardens stretching across the hillsides. In the main growing areas such as Chu, Phuong Son, Luc Ngan, Luc Son, Nam Duong wards, many car groups carrying domestic and international tourists come to visit, buy goods, and experience fruit picking, creating a bustling atmosphere. According to assessments from cooperatives and businesses, 2025 will be a bumper crop in both quality and selling price, with an average increase of 5% compared to the previous year.

At Hoa Qua Son Ecotourism Site (Chu Ward), farm owner Nguyen Van Huu said: the total output of the garden is nearly 300 tons, including: oranges, grapefruits, tangerines; beautiful appearance, high sugar content, meeting VietGAP standards. Estimated revenue is from 6 to 7 billion VND, after deducting expenses, the profit is nearly 3 billion VND. A notable figure is that about 35% of the output is consumed directly through tourists coming to the garden (revenue has been increasing steadily in recent years).

Catching the trend of “ agricultural tourism, garden experiences”, this year Hoa Qua Son invested in additional items to serve tourists such as picnic grass mats, sunshades, bamboo tables and chairs, and photo corners in the orange and grapefruit gardens. “This year, the number of visitors came very early and was larger than every year. We had to divide the workers into shifts to both harvest and serve customers,” Mr. Huu shared.

Not only large farms, agricultural start-up models also received many positive signals. Mr. Trinh Van Long, 1984, Cau Den residential group (Chu ward), first crop of oranges planted on an area of 5,000 m² with 200 trees, estimated to reach 20 to 25 tons. After participating in training courses of Thanh Hai Cooperative and applying organic farming processes, his family's orange garden attracted many tourists to visit, take photos and enjoy on the spot. Mr. Long happily said: he will participate in the province's Orange and Grapefruit Fair this year to promote more widely.

In addition to production and direct consumption, the development of eco-tourism associated with fruit orchards has created a big boost for the local economy. The tourist destinations of Hoa Qua Son, Bau Tien (Phuong Son), etc., regularly welcome dozens of groups of visitors from Hanoi, Hai Phong, Bac Giang and some neighboring provinces on weekends. Visitors are especially excited to pick the fruit themselves, enjoy it right in the garden and buy clean products with clear origins.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh, since the beginning of the year, the whole province has welcomed more than 6 million visitors, with tourism revenue estimated at more than 5,200 billion VND. During the citrus harvest season and the week of the Fruit Festival alone, Bac Ninh expects to attract about 350,000 visitors, a number that reflects the strong growth of agricultural tourism in recent times.

Opportunity to promote agricultural products

According to the Plan of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, the Bac Ninh Fruit Festival 2025 will take place from December 5 to 10, 2025, at the Central Square of Chu Ward. In addition, the Organizing Committee has selected 4 to 5 typical garden houses and cooperatives as official tourist attractions for visitors to experience the actual process of cultivating and harvesting citrus trees. This direct connection not only increases tourism value but also creates opportunities for local people to consume agricultural products.

A new feature of this year's Festival is the organization of a free bus tour to pick up and drop off residents and visitors from communes and wards in the province to visit the Festival. The two main pick-up points are located at Kinh Bac Cultural Center (Vu Ninh Ward) and 3/2 Square (Bac Giang Ward). This is an effort by the province to ensure traffic safety, reduce congestion and create conditions for people from all regions to access the Festival.

Before the festival, many tourism units invested heavily to welcome visitors. Garden Viet Tourism Cooperative (Chu Ward) spent more than 7 billion VND to build accommodation areas, stilt houses, swimming pools, check-in points, restaurants... Since the beginning of the season, Garden Viet has welcomed more than 1,000 visitors, including many international delegations from Japan, Korea, and China.

In addition, e-commerce has also become a key consumption channel. Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (Hanoi), a seller on the Tiktok platform, said that live streaming directly from the grapefruit garden helps attract thousands of views, the number of orders increases significantly thanks to realistic images and beautiful natural space.

Within the framework of the Festival, the province will organize a conference to promote Bac Ninh tourism destinations 2025, connecting travel agencies, cooperatives and gardeners. Along with that, OCOP booths and deeply processed products will help enhance the brand recognition of Bac Ninh agricultural products, expanding consumption opportunities inside and outside the province.

The Bac Ninh Fruit Festival 2025 not only honors the value of agricultural products, but also contributes to shaping the strategy for developing agricultural tourism associated with local culture. The harmonious combination of production, consumption, and tourism experience is opening up a new direction for the rural economy: greener, more sustainable, and more unique.

The careful preparation of management agencies, businesses, cooperatives and gardeners, along with the ripe fruit season, promises to bring a vibrant festival season, contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic, potential and friendly Bac Ninh to tourists from near and far.
