Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism announced on December 3 that the country will pilot a visa exemption program for Chinese citizens traveling from China for four months, from June 15, 2026, to October 15, 2026.
Under the program, Chinese visitors can stay for up to 14 days without a visa or paying any fees. Chinese visitors only need to fill out an electronic entry declaration and can enter multiple times during the pilot period.
The Cambodian government also instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to discuss with the Chinese side to simplify visa procedures for Cambodian citizens, aiming at the long-term goal of complete visa exemption.
Mr. Thourn Sinan, President of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in Cambodia, assessed this as a positive move, expected to help attract more Chinese tourists, businessmen and investors.
China is now Cambodia's third largest international tourist market, after Thailand and Vietnam.
In the first nine months of this year, Cambodia welcomed about 889,000 Chinese tourists, an increase of 46.3% over the same period in 2024. Chinese tourists accounted for 20.3% of the total 4.37 million international visitors to the country./.
